How was he an asshole in the intvw? As I said a couple of pages back, it sounded to me like they know each other and were goofing back and forth. I'm sure if you saw the video it would tell a different story.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that a video exists, I'm more or less stating that the audio only presents half of the picture (no pun intended). I should have said if we could see the video...

I'm assuming and you know what they say about assuming!

I just don't hear it the way some do, just sounds like typical sports talk radio banter to me.

Maybe we should e-mail Homer and have him weigh in on it!

Thanks Rock good find.

But after listening to that Rodgers sounds like his ego is huge as expected.Him saying AK shouldn't get paid for what they expect of him was asinine seeing he got the big payday for the same thing but it's not good enough for others. I guess we will hear stories that this was all taken out of context of course.

btw +1 Rock

This ego stuff is slowly becoming my pet peeve. I would have an ego too if I were in Rodgers' position. So would you and so does other quarterbacks that have played for the Green Bay Packers. It's what drives that competitive nature that a lot of these guys have.

I agree with Rodgers on Kampman's contract status. I wouldn't give him a new deal either. Not now. It's nothing personal, but it's business. If it doesn't work you can still franchise and trade Kampman much like the team did with Corey Williams.

However, I wouldn't say it to the public like Rodgers has. It was a terrible thing to say and one Kampman probably didn't appreciate.

Honestly there isn't much here that concerns me unless it effects the play of Rodgers and Kampman. I don't see that happening so I wouldn't get uptight about it.

What I heard initially was the radio dude pretended to be AK and asked Aaron Rodgers to be in the posistion of GM. Aaron Rodgers brought forth a standard GM answer. Prove your worth first get paid later. Aaron Rodgers also rationalized why it would have been better for AK to participate in the first opportunity to speak. Nothing was shocking except for the last part of the interview where Aaron Rodgers sounded to be a bit snotty. Which makes sense cause not one question about how his play was it was all about other people on the team. So maybe Aaron Rodgers was a bit put off by that.
I am therefor I think.

First off, I didn't read all four pages of this thread so I don't know if someone has brought up this point...

Well rationed out response, but supposing it is true all the participants are speaking with tongue firmly implanted in cheek, then here is my counter argument: I would not be so reluctant to give Rodgers a free pass, if it were not for the fact that we went through this whole media thing last season with the get on board comments. Rodgers makes a brash comment and must later clarify his intentions or apologise for it. The fact that the media blew it up so much should have clicked in Rodgers' mind that whatever you say will be directly scrutinised. Rodgers isn't being paid to be the GM, nor is his aim to alienate players and create friction amongst team members. He has opinions, and as he has stated, he would say things personally that he wouldn't say on the radio. I would hate to hear what he has to say in private, given these public comments.

Again, I am not convinced that Rodgers needed to have said ANYTHING he said about Kampman on that interview. I don't buy it that we're overreacting; I feel Rodgers should have learned from the past mistake that he made again. Hell, it was even mentioned when the host said that he feels Kampman wouldn't say anything to the media because he's too honourable to complain and would rather not say anything than to complain about it. And Rodgers should have followed suit.

No, I don't feel like there's an overreaction here. Even if Rodgers is correct (which I tend to agree with him on), there's certain things you do not do as a professional. Calling out colleagues in public is one of them. Especially when it can so easily lead to problems between teammates. Even after Rodgers has said that the teams that make the deepest playoff runs are those with good locker room morale, he goes out and says this type of thing. No, it was not rational in my opinion.

wow, reading some of the comments I thought it was going to be terrible but after I listened to it I didn't think what he said was nearly as bad as you guys are making it sound.

"Stevetarded" wrote:

Me too. I'm not a Rodgers apologist, but the comments seemed very tame. I agree with those who think he just didn't want to give the interview in the first place so he was already defensive. But besides that, just listen to those idiots who kept cutting him off and butchering his college and Aaron Andrews stories. If I had to talk with those clowns I'd probably be irritated too.

So my verdict: Nothing he said crossed any lines as long as this is stuff he's been saying to AK in private as well.

Calling him out? I missed that part. I do recall him saying that Kampman will do good in the new scheme. I do remember him saying that if Kampman publicly states that the Packers should pay him the money they would have if they had 4 - 3 that it would be the dumbest thing ever. Which we all know Kampman would never do. I also seem to remember Rodgers saying he could/should say it privately or at least it would be okay to say it privately. Which, I agree with to a point. As long as its behind closed doors, good by me.
