I thought it would be kind of cool for us to share with each other why our Moms are special.

My Mom has sacrificed a lot for me over the years. We didn't appreciate it at the time, but growing up, my sister and I were always priority #1 with my Mom.

My Mom ALWAYS made sure we ate what we were suppose to. She always made sure we had balanced meals. This is a big reason IMO that my sister and I have been so healthy over the years. Watch what you eat!!

She ALWAYS helped us with our homework.(She is very smart too)

Anytime we needed something for school, she did whatever she could to make sure we got it. When we lived in Germany, she once spent several hours on a bus to and from a town called Schweinfurt, just to get some markers I needed for art class, because the PX on base didn't have them.

Anyway, that's just a few of the many sacrifices my Mom has made for me.

Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there!

My Mom was special because she was always there for me. No matter how stupid of a mistake I made, she still loved me the same. And I made a LOT of REALLY stupid mistakes growing up. She was a great listener and was the perfect blend with my father. He was balls to the wall strict and mother was more congratulative over the small things to give me confidence to move forward.

I love and miss you, Mom.

My mom has passed away 14 years ago. She was bound to a wheelchair because she lost two legs to diabetes. She still went places, kept upbeat and positive despite her problems she still lived life to the fullest.
I am a woman and I love football.

My Mom was great!
She was your "typical" 1960's "TV" Mom. We always had home cooked meals, clean clothes, and lots of love.
It will be 19 years since she died this October.
Those of you that still have your Moms, be sure to tell them how much you love them, every chance you get!
You never know how many chances you will have to do so, no matter how old or young you are.

LOL not far from here Iron.

Anyway, Mom's cool because she had the guts to walk away from an abusive/alcoholic relationship at a time when that was unheard of. We never knew how poor we were but got through it okay. Oh, and she always emphasised the positives of being a GB Packer fan.

I know.. I'm lurking in the OLD threads.. But I missed this one, and I'm bored.. So 'ere we go! lol

I've always kinda 'adopted' many moms throughout my childhood/teen years. The main reason for that is my biological mother left my dad, sister and I when I was 4 years old. Due to her being unemployed and not having a roof over her head, my dad won custody (thank God!), one of the VERY few fathers to win a custody battle in those days, I hear. About a year or two later, my mom finally started to get her act together, and got visitation with us every other weekend. I know, this is a Mother's Day thread.. Hold your horses.. lol

Around the same time frame, my dad fell in love with, and married, Hilda. She's been more of a mother to me more than anything. And I'm not taking anything away from my biological mother, she was dealing with circumstances. Because Hilda has been such a driving force in my life, she's always been MOM. People kinda felt bad for us, having a step-mom and all.. I always felt privileged, I had two moms. 🙂 During my awkward late-childhood and pre-teenaged years, the bond between myself and my mom (Hilda) grew strong. We always talked, about anything and everything. It was mom who forced me to play football to 'toughen up her little man' (I was the GEEK of the school, and she wanted me to toughen up.. lol). And because there isn't an OUNCE of quit in my body, and even though I was the talent vortex* and the smallest kid on the team, I played all the way through high school.

Going through the later years of high school, I wanted to grow up.. I didn't want to be 'mommy's little angel' anymore. And because of that, I started pulling away from my mom and mother, naturally (believe me, this is a HEALTHY and NATURAL thing.. lol) My best friend at the time (Benny) and I hung out ALOT. Most of the time at his house, because we had a bit more freedom and alot less younger siblings. Due to this, his mom, (or 'ma' as I call her) became an adopted mom for me. Funny, the bond between that friend and I was so strong, that automatically the bond between myself and his mother grew as well. All the way to the point of her calling me one of her own. I was the ONLY one of Benny's friends that visited 'ma' during his time in Training Camp and during his tour in Iraq. I was the only one of his friends that would go to their house and help his parents scrape and paint the exterior (BTW, I am not, nor have I ever been, a painter). To this day, 12 years after first meeting 'ma', I still talk and visit her when I'm in town.

With that.. I'll end with this:
"Ma", you are the bomb! I thank you for bringing me in and accepted me when things got crazy. I love how you let Benny and I be 'boys', even though we were pretty freakin' stupid.. lol I pray your health gets and stays better. THANK YOU!!

Mom, thank you for being strong when you had to be. I love how you always support me in EVERYTHING I do, and how awesome your cooking is. I pray you overcome your demons, because without them, you are a beautiful woman, whom which I love dearly. I miss picking you up in a bear hug, and I miss hanging out with you. I forgive you for everything you put us through, and I love you.

Mommy, when others couldn't be the person we needed most, I thank YOU for standing in the gaps. I thank you for loving us unconditionally, as your own blood. I also thank you for giving me the discipline I needed (we all know I needed it!) I love and miss our talks, and I love how you love and treat my wife with as much heart as you did us oh so long ago, even though you think there's things she needs to change. I love you, I love you, I love you. I cannot say that enough.

*I actually SUCKED the talent from others around me.. that's how bad I was

Wow, that's quite a story, Formo.

I really envy you for being able to talk about stuff like this so openly. I guess it is a blessing in disguise to have 3 moms this way.

Zero2Cool (7h) : HUMP DAY
beast (7h) : Guys that have a good shot at making the NFL Hall of Fame usually get into their teams pretty fast
beast (7h) : Yeah, but is Kampman and the others in the NFL Hall of Fame?

Zero2Cool (7h) : I could be wrong there though
Zero2Cool (7h) : Guys like Kampman, Tim Harris, Al Harris, etc all over 15 years. Hall of Fame is 5 year wait
Zero2Cool (7h) : I guess I see players in Packers Hall come way later
beast (7h) : Yeah, usually teams hall of fames are a much lower bar than the NFL
Zero2Cool (7h) : is it uncommon for Hall before Ring?
Zero2Cool (8h) : S Xavier McKinney named first-team All-Pro by NFLPA
beast (9h) : I missed it, sorry, but he got into the NFL Hall of Fame years before that
Zero2Cool (9h) : Jones took his sweet ole time!
Zero2Cool (9h) : Yeah, he's in the ring of honor, just saw video and his name is up there
Zero2Cool (9h) : Didn't they have a thing in 2023 for Jimmy's ring of honor? I swear I saw it
beast (10h) : Though if they're legitimately trying to re-sign MM, then it makes sense.
beast (10h) : Jerry Jones still hasn't put Jimmy Johnson in the Ring of Honor, but he's in the NFL's Hall of Fame, Jones is petty
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Unless the Cowboys are planning an extension, seems kinda petty
beast (23h) : Cowboys denied Bears request
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : From what I'm reading, MM is under contract through the 14th of January; after that he's free game
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : McCarthy let go or not extended??
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Chicago Bears have asked the Dallas Cowboys permission to interview Mike McCarthy for head coaching vacancy
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : The winners page that is
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : I was not hoping for that. It messes up the page lol

Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : Packers have $60M+ of 2025 cap space on paper TODAY.
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Missed FG into a Lions TD; that'll do pig, that'll do
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : That might be it for the Vikings
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Oh so the refs do know what intentional grounding is
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : what the hell was that Goff?! Not much pressure and he just air mails it to Harrison
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : They really need to to get rid of the auto first down for illegal contact
Martha Careful (6-Jan) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Even when GB got pressure he was throwing darts; vs no pressure on that last pass he just air mails an open guy
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : didn't have guys in his face ... pressure makes difference
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Where was this Darnold vs GB?
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : BALL DON'T LIE
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : how was that not a safety? Goff throws it at an offensive lineman
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Zero, I thought that was a given! ;)
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Zero I looked through earlier and noticed the same thing. Bonkers year. I just wonder if beast put any money on games
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : I'm hoping for BLOODBATH. Pummel one another.
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : 8 people in pick'em would have won any year with their total lol
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : I'm rooting for the Lions to lose.
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : God help me but I'm rooting for the Vikings to...Vikings to...Christ I can't say it
