As versatile and complicated as Capers' scheme will be to opponents, it will be just as hard to digest and comprehend for the Packers.

This is bull. The Packers have the entire training camp and four preseason games to make this work before even game 1, and adjustments will be made all season long. An opposing O has 1 week to study film before playing us.

add to this the fact that a big part of what makes Capers an excellent coach/DC is his ability to adapt the scheme to fit the personel.

Bozz - I was thinking the same thing. That's one of Dom's greatest strengths - adaptation.

I wanted to add, this is one of the best articles I've seen in a long time. Excellent read. It was only one point I had issue with. The rest was extremely informative.

Agreed, some of these old school beat writers seem to forget that the NFL has become a 12 month a year sport with all the offseason camps that take place.. I do not think it is going to be an overwhelming chore to become comfortable with the defense in a single offseason.. at least not with the experience that Capers brings with him and the staff he has put together..

No built in excuses shall be given... a blown assignment here or there is common.. but several a game and repetitively should not be accepted.. and I have a feeling with this staff on the defensive side with won't be.

I wasnt impressed with our LBers last year - ya I like barnett and I think chillar has some good coverage skills but I think our guys perform underpar.

I'm feeling 100% better thou coming into this next season.

We have a great DC and a Great LB coach (greene) to teach our guys. Let alone some new blood in the mix and a new system to use our LBers to their strengths.

Last year I loved watching our O play; this year I have a feeling I will be enjoying our D play much more.

I think I have over expressed my disappointment in the Linebacker play last season.. and my thoughts on retaining Moss as well.

Color me extremely disappointed if the Backers aren't the fireplug of raw emotions for the team this season.. extremely.

I won't buy into that excuse when watching the tapes, to many times did you see the backer waiting instead of attacking a play... our linebacking play was passive at best.. sissy-like at worse... they deserved a better public "calling out" than Moss gave them once the season was over.. their play was pathetic at times.

You may be right. I do need to see them again.

I saw the games each once and live. What I remember was they were exhausted by the 4th Q.

I'm not too worried though. I think the waiting vs attacking problem can be fixed with coaching, a problem we fixed in the offseason.

Zombie, I will agree that our depleted line play added to the backers issues no doubt.

We undermanned the front last season, got hit by a couple of untimely injuries with Jenkins and Barnett going down, but to excuse any group that could have changed the outcome isn't correct either, IMO.

Lessons were hopefully learned last season, like if Harrell isn't ready to play game one, don't count on him game 6. Keep the numbers until players prove they can help the team along.

The worst sign last season, to me, is that we were missing an attitude in the box on defense..

Fast forward to this season and the makeup of this staff, we should have plenty of attitude with Trgovac and Greene being added.. Mike's contributions and impact to this 09' defense have been under estimated to this point IMO.

beast (14h) : I was kind of hoping Douglas might come back to the Pack
beast (14h) : My question is how much do we trust Jenkins? In bad weather, he seemed to struggle a bit with ball control snapping, though he started at OG
beast (14h) : Well Jenkins probably knows he's not getting that 2026 salary number without a new contact... so just trying to get the new contact early
Zero2Cool (19h) : CB Rasul Douglas is visiting the #Seahawks today, per source.
dfosterf (22h) : He's a switch and baiter. Its the same as a bait and switcher except he agreed to the switch first lol

dfosterf (12-May) : *Elgersma*
dfosterf (12-May) : Today would be a good day to discover the Pack signed Taylor Engersma, the Canadian QB

Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?
beast (4-May) : Seems like the S2 has a love/hate relationship with professional scouts.
