So far we have gotten more out of him than Preston Smith this year. I questioned getting rid of Smith when we did, but now I'm seeing that it was a pretty good decision.

Gutes done a good job the past few years of finding guys who were inconsistent in college and trusting the coaching staff to give them the proper support they need to succeed. For Cox to be playing well and contributing is a credit to the teams culture.

The problem is, he has had to do a good job because many first round draft choices have not worked out including Van Ness.
