The Packers defense has allowed 174 completion over the middle of the field (30th in the NFL) and given up 10 TD in that same area (only 6 teams have allowed more). That is from Tweeter. That is kind of crazy.

Although, it feels Packers always have issues over the middle dating back to the 90's.

I believe in today's game with all the rules favoriting the offense, if your OL is good enough to hold up in pass protection, the middle of the field is always open.

As teams try focus on protecting the edges to stop the big plays and are more willing to give up short middle plays.

And I would image the teams that blitz more would be giving up more over the middle as it's usually best to attack a blitz right behind where it's coming from.

Stats are Stats.
They can be broken down in any number of ways. Bottom line, as it has been forever, winning the turnover battle is the only stat that has been consistent with winning and losing.
Todays game scoring td's not Fg's in the red zone seems to be more prominent.
There is always going to be the anomaly.
Looking back, this season could have gone better, but who is really upset that The Packers are 9-4. and still have4 weeks to improve?
Usually this time of the year I am trying to figure out who needs to lose and who needs to win to get The Packers into the playoffs
Packers just need to work on improving every week and come January, they will know where they have to go to get started.
Mich more fun this way.
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

As mentioned in another thread, there are two factors which lead to this problem:
1. linebackers are not good in man coverage or in understanding zone concepts
2. deficiencies in the secondary necessitate a two high shell which leads to more underneath completions

Go Packers!!!!

dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.
