We need more of that kind of nastiness in Green Bay.

ya I cant wait to watch this guy play - if he's blocking for some RB I'll be more interested in his blocking then the running play.

Nothing special, but the man is build like a tank. It ought to be scary to see him coming your way as a LB.

His calves actually seem rather puny to me with respect to his overall body size. I'd expect more trunk mass. But that can be developed, obviously.

When you compare him to a guy like Barnett, he looks like he can hit the weigth room just a bit more. His overall body size is just amazing though.

That's more scary than anything else though. If he can run into people and hit them the way he does right now, what kind off blocker will he be if he gets more muscular limbs.

Ofcourse he hasn't proven himself on a proffesional level, but I can't wait to see him in action already.

I know one thing, I wouldn't attempt to tackle him.

I think it's interesting that Quinn Johnson has gotten more attention on this board since the draft than B.J. Raji. 😃

hehe ... ya interesting huh ... here is my take

#9 spot is worth alot and we expect alot in return. We drafted him as a NT and they are talking about using him more as a DE (his speed).
There are some doubts about him since he played the line with the big guy brace next to him.

I think raji will do well for us thou (I think dom could help our line even if we didnt pick raji - raji is just a bonus IMO)

Quinn on the other hand - he's a 5th round pick. Mainly for one purpose in mind; and thats to block and to crush the defense. And it looks like he enjoys this. Seeing how MM uses our fullbacks most of the time I think we can see how usful a guy like Quinn could be. IMO we dont have the really good TEs on our team we have better fullbacks (blocking, short passes etc - although I dont see quinn doing much of that).

The Packers had one of the most dynamic long-yardage passing games in the league last year, leading the league in passes of 40 yards or more and coming in second in passes of 20 yards or more. And it was mostly on the army of Aaron Rodgers, too, not because of YAC -- the Packers were in the lower third of the league in YAC last year, after leading the league the year before.

Where this team struggled last year was in short-yardage situations. We couldn't seem to get the third-and-ones and the fourth-and-ones with any consistency. Even worse, we were faced with a ridiculous number of third-and-longs because our running game couldn't seem to make plays on first and second downs.

Quinn Johnson might be exactly the ticket we need. A huge, physical fullback who loves crushing guys in his path will open up holes and help our running backs get the extra few inches they need to make those first downs. He will back off the defensive linemen a bit, giving Aaron Rodgers more choices on option plays.

And just because QJ hasn't been used for catching passes in the past doesn't mean he isn't capable of it. At 6'1'' and 250 lbs, he'll tower over most of the cornerbacks he'll be facing and be virtually impossible to tackle. There very well could be a whole unrealized dimension of possibilities there.

My prediction: QJ comes away with 2 touchdowns this year.

dfosterf (18-Aug) : We do have good depth at running back imo. Still so frustrating. Bitching about it is a futile excercise, which I plan to do anyway.

dfosterf (13-Aug) : a lower back injury
dfosterf (13-Aug) : Doubs says he's "fine" after injury scare. Some reported it as z
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals
beast (12-Aug) : I believe Musgrave has been injured every single season since at least a Sophomore in highschool
packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason
dfosterf (12-Aug) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget

Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
