Doubs is officially listed as doubtful versus the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Prior to Christian Watson’s ankle injury on Sunday, the Green Bay Packers  were heavily rotating Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks in their receiver unit. According to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Bill Huber, at least one of those pass-catchers, Doubs, is unhappy about the split snaps .

Huber stated in his recent article that Doubs, who has been a non-participant in the Packers’ last two practices of the week leading up to their game against the Los Angeles Rams  this Sunday, was actually found at his residence by “team representatives” when he didn’t show up for Thursday practice. On Friday, head coach Matt LaFleur that the team is going to take Doubs’ situation, which up to this point was simply called a personal matter, “day by day.” Mind you, LaFleur said he was hoping that Doubs would be ready to practice on Friday after Doubs’ Thursday absence.

Officially, the Packers have listed Doubs, along with Watson, as doubtful for Sunday’s action . If the team is down both receivers, Green Bay will be left with Reed, Wicks, Malik Heath and Bo Melton at the position on the 53-man roster, though, they also have three practice squad options at receiver for a gameday elevation. If Doubs isn’t going to play on Sunday, we’ll probably have an inkling of it by Saturday afternoon, when the Packers have to declare their elevations for the week.

According to NFL Pro , Doubs leads the team with 115 routes ran in 2024, including two games with backup quarterback Malik Willis, but he ranks behind slot receiver Jayden Reed and tight end Tucker Kraft in receptions. Currently, Reed is the most productive slot receiver in the NFL .

From a yards-per-route run perspective, Doubs is averaging 1.38 yards per route, Reed is at 3.5, Wicks is at 1.3 and Watson is at 1.53. Aside from Reed’s standout production, Doubs is producing around the same clip per play as Wicks and Watson this season. With 19 targets under his belt, Doubs ranks third on the Packers in that metric in 2024. League-wide, 19 targets is good for a tie for the 67th player in the NFL through four weeks, but that includes two games where Willis threw 33 times combined over those starts.

When Jordan Love has been on the field, and he currently is, Doubs has been far from a decoy. For perspective, Reed and Wicks lead the Packers with 22 targets, just three more than Doubs in 2024.

Green Bay’s gameplan versus the Rams may involve a heavy helping of Wicks, who has an abnormally high amount of targets for the number of routes since he joined the Packers. If Doubs is frustrated, as Huber reporter, it could be about his post-Watson role with the team rather than the one he’s played up to this point this season.

Someone is saying over and over that Doubs has anxiety with long flights after Brazil.

And then I found this.

Kansas City is more centrally located and the west coast flights to division rivals would be shorter, and just as short to most AFC teams. Perhaps a trade destination.

Packers have suspended Romeo Doubs one game for conduct detrimental to the team.

From Ian Rapoport → The Packers have suspended WR Romeo Doubs, who missed two practices this past week, for their game against the #Rams.

But after a frustrating week, there’s an expectation things have moved in a positive direction and he will rejoin the team next week.

My thoughts: shut up, and do your job. At some point, you will get the ball thrown to you. It's a long season. Be a TEAM player.
If Doubs is upset for not being "the guy", then he's a "me first" guy and should be gone.
Seems like the over flowing WR room has been blown up by this and injuries.
I can understand Doubs wanting to get more chances to produce. Then talk to the coach and QB and let them know that. Let them know you want to do more to help the TEAM.
He's getting enough money to do what the team wants of him. No matter what that role must be.

"Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to suspend Romeo for this week's game," said Gutekunst. "His decisions and actions during the week negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action. While we are certainly disappointed, we are confident that we will be able to move forward in a positive manner. Romeo is a valuable member of our team and we look forward to welcoming him back next week."

IIRC, this is similar to what they said regarding Alexander last year when he did his captain screw up.

I would think suspension carries a fine and will wake him up, pull him out of his funk.

I still think a call the KC is warranted.

Yet here we are. A WR is rocking the boat due to his status in the offense. The WR in question is perceived at best as a #3/#4 guy in the WR room (nevermind the pecking order with TEs). Whether due to ball distribution, injuries, weekly scheme matchup, future contracts, something like this was bound to happen. The thing that surprises me is that happened in the middle of this season from the quiet guy. The fact that Doubs is not happy with his role going into this game just tells me that the game plan vs the Rams is going to something like Jacobs/Reed/Wicks/Kraft/Musgrave/etc.

Thinking that Watson, Doubs, Reed, Wicks, Kraft and Musgrave would have zero issues with ball distribution when all their contracts expire between 2026-27 was utterly and absolutely naive.

Why should I need to go to the coach and QB about my chances when I had the most receptions and yards vs Dallas and San Francisco in the playoffs last year? Haven't I already done enough to help the team the past two years that I deserve to be a focal point and the benefit of the doubt? I'm getting paid fine now, but what happens when my contract is up? I might end up sacrificing my numbers and missing out on $10-15 million in earnings. My next snap could be my last. Are you going to compensate me for my role? I am a professional! Try TREATING me like one!

Is this overly simplistic? Yes. But from Doubs perspective, he's been a professional and been a team player and now expects to be treated as such.

He is currently on IR, but maybe we trade Doubs to Miami for DuBose and a late pick?

Christian Watson on Romeo Doubs:
"Two days isn't gonna ruin the three years of work and commitment he's put in for us. It'll definitely be a little weird right away just because it was a pretty significant situation for him."

"We all have our own individual goals, so you really never truly know what somebody's thinking and I'll never wanna talk down and on anyone's mental health. I don't really still know the exact specifics of the situation, but whenever someone's going through something, they do things that you wouldn't really expect from them"

Not in this clip but "I absolutely wish I would've handled things differently." and I am glad to read that. We all make mistakes. We must learn from them though. Maybe he has.

Romeo Doubs said wanting a bigger role had nothing to do with skipping practice.

"I had to make sure that I got the family together again. I'd say there was some things going on off the field, so as far as just the organization and just the staff, players, there's nothing going on within that area, so I just wanna make myself clear there."

Doubs said he "absolutely" wishes he would've handled last week differently.

How so?

"Stay in better communication."

Doubs said he's fine mentally.

"There’s just some things I have going on off the field. I just had to make sure that I had that under control."
