Honestly, my biggest worry is that the negative/cynical crowd will win over the atmosphere of the team and fans, and have a real effect on the vision of success the team is trying to build. I'm pretty confident in all aspects of how the team has been built. I have my little worries here and there (who will emerge as RT, what happens when our corners hit the wall, slow start vs. easy schedule due to new D scheme), but nothing compares to the worrying I do about the negative shit being spewed around.

If I were being completely and brutally honest I'd blame the vast majority of said negativity/pissy attitudes on fans who still have chafed nuts over the Favre thing.

Maybe there's more to it. Maybe it is, as some say, other issues (like special teams, apparently) but when it comes down to it I think it's about Favre.

Kinda sad to see what a grip one player had over so many fans. I think the biggest gift Favre ever gave me personally as a fan was to cultivate my adoration of the Packers. Favre made me a Packer fan -- but I won't let him undo that because things went sour. Meh.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

Good post! For those of us that were Packers fans before Favre, the transition isn't that difficult. We still have a good quarterback, and in some ways, I like Rogers better. Until Rogers chucks up an overtime interception in the playoffs, I think it's safe to say he's a little more responsible with the football. It's funny, but what made Favre great was also his biggest detriment (having the guts to put the ball where it shouldn't have been thrown).

I think Colledge at G anymore is a mistake. He's gotten a lot of live action, put him where he belongs is what I say.

GREAT post Dave!
Thats just how i feel.
Favre made it fun to be a Packer fan again, and for that, i'll be forever greatful. But he's gone now, and the Packers are still here........and I'm still here to cheer them on, just as I did pre'Favre.
I think there are alot of "fans" that were not that big of Packer fans, or grew up with Favre as their only QB. So for them, him leaving destroys the team.
I always knew the time would come when he wasn't the Packers QB anymore, so i knew it was like an amusement park ride. Lots of fun, but you know it doesn't last forever. Some expected the ride to just keep on going forever.
But i see it as a new excitement. Aaron Rodgers seems to be a pretty darn good QB. And I think he will only get better. Yes, he's NOT BF. He doesn't have the charisma on the field that BF had.
But I bet there are plenty of teams that wish they had Aaron Rodgers as their QB.

A Rodge at 100% and another year mature bids for a strong season.

A Rodge gets hit and is out for the year... We may be looking at the LAST year being a GOOD year.

Having said that, I am a bit more optimistic about this year because of his maturity. IF he can become the team leader through his maturity, we may have in him what Favre lacked... The DISCIPLINE!

Rodgers will make less mistakes this year and that bodes well for the Pack.

Yeah because the greatest QB's of all time never threw an interception in a playoff game. It's part of the game.

You are right about what made Favre great was his biggest detriment though. However that works the other way around. Had Brett not had that confidence to attempt to squeeze it into triple coverage he would be nothing but a average to good quarterback.

We'll see what A-Rod can do and how it turns out. Eating the ball, throwing it away or scrambling for a yard is fine if the defense is top tier. If not it makes for an ultra conservative gameplan that is unlikely to win very many games.

If you say it enough it must be true, huh?

Many of fans had problems with Ted Thompson long before the Brett Favre thing. For some I'm sure it strengthened the feeling but thier is a whole forum over at the other site that can easily be read, pre Brett leaving, to disspell the "people hate Ted because of Brett" thing.

So your saying if we have a good year its because of Rodgers? If it's a bad year it's because we didn't have him? I was just looking for clarification.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
