With Russell Wilson soon to be a Free Agent, where does everyone think he will end up? He can be signed for cheap as he will still be paid the next 2 years by the Broncos at a wage of $35.4 million this coming year and $49.6 million the following. So he already said he could sign a vet minimum and still be happy. I would guess with money not being an option that would leave playing time and chance at a ring.
So who is all looking for a QB?

1st I would start with the obvious and that would be the Steelers. They made the playoffs last year with a 3rd string QB, they like to rely on the running game and strong defense. But they also have a nice receiving group. They only have $18 million in cap space so I think Wilson would be their main target. Give him a 3-year deal and back load it in the final year, and maybe draft another QB in the 3rd round.

2nd I would think would be the Vikings, they have tons of cap space with $37 million and once again you could see a 3 or 4 year deal with spreading it out and back spreading out evenly and that way when the 3rd or 4th year comes along you will know if you need a new QB or the rookie would be ready after sitting. The huge upside of this is you will now have Jefferson and Addison to catch the ball for you. Maybe they spend some money and bring in one of the topbacks to aid with the offense. This to me is a better choice than bringing back Cousins. Side note I think the path would be easier in the NFC than the AFC and you will be playing over half your games indoors.

I would put the Falcons as the 3rd in line. The Falcons have $37 million in cap space a solid young core with Robinson, London, and Pitts. Once again this could be a sign and draft a young QB to sit behind Wilson for a few years. I will just keep repeating myself and say a 3 or 4-year deal would be perfect and either backload it or split it evenly to the point if you keep him for a backup it won't strap you with the cap. The main advantage here is the division they play in he could very easily win the division and they would think he was a hero.

As the 4th team is the sleeper pick to me, The Tennessee Titans, have tons of cap space at $75 million and still have a stud with Hopkins at WR. They love the running game and have a nice back right now but with all that cap space they could go grab a Barkley or Jacobs or even a Swift and be good for a while. This would take the pressure off Wilson and he could also mentor Levis in the meantime. I would say he gets to play in the week south but I think the south will be a tough division this year with all the young teams.

For other teams like the Raiders, I can't see him going back to play in arguably the toughest division in football, unless it would be for revenge against the Broncos, and he would have Adams.

The Pats and Commanders are just bad teams and play in very strong divisions. They both will be picking their franchise QB in the draft so he would have to be their mentor. Maybe on the way outside the Giants sign him and draft A QB this year in the later rounds. I don't see any of these 3 in the mix.

In the end, I would guess the favorites would be the Steelers followed by the Falcons. I see Cousins back in Minnesota and the Titans to stay pat and let Levis learn on the fly.

What do you folks have to say on that?

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Just to start off with the reports/rumors.

Russell Wilson has supposedly met with Steelers and Giants, which the Giants need a total rebuild and Wilson seems like a bad fit.

Rumors have suggested Kirk Cousins to the Falcons is likely, with the Falcons running the Rams Wide Zone like the Vikings have been doing under their current head coach, and Cousins' wife being from the Atlanta area (and where they got Married). Also, the Falcons have a freaking ton of 1st round pick weapons and a very good run blocking OL (though they're maybe not the best at pass protection, if you get the play action game going it can potentially be a great fit).

I thought about the idea, with Pete Carroll out, maybe Wilson returns to the Seahawks? But looking at Geno Smith's contract, I'm thinking that's unlikely... though Giants are in a similar situation with their starting QB (though he also has an ACL injury) so it's possible but unlikely.

I think the best potential landing spots for Wilson would be, Steelers, Raiders or Buccaneers (if they don't keep Baker Mayfield).

Under the Buccaneers scenario, Mayfield goes to the Falcons (to work with the offensive coordinator he previously worked with while on the Rams), Cousins stays with the Vikings, and Buccaneers sign Wilson. But I think Buccaneers and Mayfield are trying to work something out.

Raiders seems like a good fit, as they seem like they want a veteran to take charge, especially with the rookie head coach. To my knowledge, they haven't shown any interest in Wilson, but technically Wilson is still under contract, but has been given permission to talk with other teams, but that might be all teams outside of the division, and therefore not Raiders. Otherwise, why not just release him already? Unless they're trying to trick a team into trading for him, which has a 99.9% of failing.

I think the simple answer is the Steelers, they've shown the most interest in him, and their offense seriously struggled last year and the head coach seemed to believe it wasn't the offensive coordinator, but seemed like his arm got twisted enough that he had to let the coach go, and seemed like their offense improved once they got the 3rd string QB in.

And while I think this one is highly unlikely, I just want to throw it out there.... Wilson to the Dolphins. Dolphins are supposedly already $16 million over the cap... Tua is costing them $23 million this year and likely wants in the $50 million per year going forward... and has a history of concussions.

Ok He went to the Burg and it's mixed emotions out here, but I am curious so I am calling on the cap gurus in here. The Broncos are on the hook for the next 2 years, so why wouldn't a team offer a 2-year deal Wilson was looking for? Am I misunderstanding that the next 2 years are fully covered so he could have signed a 2 year deal for $7 million and that would have been good.

I mean you could have a good Vet QB for cheap as a Backup if need be, but no one would offer the 2nd year.

So like I said what am I missing here.

I think the offset is only 2024, not both 2024 and 2025. It wouldn't make sense for him to sign multi year deal anyway. He's on the final leg of his career. Rock out with Steelers and land a three year deal with a team lacking just a QB that he can plug into and out them over the top ala Favre to Vikings 2009.

Zero2Cool (19h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (22h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (22h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
