EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Technically, the Green Bay Packers didn't lose their hold on the final playoff spot in the NFC. Their grip just got a little weaker.

But they might have lost something almost as important: Momentum.

That's what could happen when a Packers team that was coming off a three-game winning streak -- that included victories over two division leaders (Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs) -- suffers a 24-22 loss to a 4-8 New York Giants team that started a backup quarterback in front of plenty of empty seats at MetLife Stadium.

It left the Packers having to answer questions about how something like that happened and what impact it could have on the final month of the regular season when they play a couple of division rivals they're battling for a playoff spot.

"Eff it," Packers cornerback/kick returner Keisean Nixon said. "Move on. You know what I'm saying. We've got another game. Tampa's going to come in wanting to play. A must-win game."

Playoff games are a bit different energy level. Hopefully the kids love it and it drives them for that eventual 2025 Super Bowl run.

Ya if I was him I wouldn't want to talk about the game either lol. He couldn't cover anyone and was constantly beaten and then his boneheaded attempt at a punt return. To me that put a dagger in his Packer career, he won't be back next year.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be šŸ™‚ (PS, Zero should charge for this)

So if they get into playoffs. Cool, absolutely cool. I just don't think they can beat anyone and it's mainly because of injuries.

And even if they could win the 6th seed, the Lions were catching up, if they simply make less errors, they're the better team. Of course, their #1 DT, which is #2 in the DL did go to the IR since, so maybe that might give an opening to run the ball more.

But after the Giants game, I think it's alright to doubt if the Packers can make it to the 6th seed.

7-10...and I am not being sarcastic here...if so, that record DOES NOT mean they aren't heading in the right direction. Sometimes you have to play youth and have growing pains, but that investment should pay off in subsequent years.

I suggest we all look at performances along with the demonstrated (pro-level) potential and not grade the year simply on record.

I am interested in winning super bowls, not division championships

I stand my my prediction...we beat Carolina stumbling through the balance of the year. Further I not interested in any 'one and done' scenarios. I would rather have a higher draft pick than get embarrassed by an elite team in the play-off, then having to endure the talking heads talk about we 'over-achieved in a rebuilding year'
Go Packers!!!!

I'm interested in getting one and done out of our system in 2023 season rather than having the kids deer in headlights look in 2024. Plus, playoff experience is valuable. And it gives you a taste of the good stuff.

The draft slot talk annoys me and feels like a losers mentality. I expect Bears to think having a draft pick is "winning", not Packers. And it's not like going from 24 to 18 is gonna net us some major stud that's gonna alter the franchise. Now if you throw 24 to 6, now ya onto something lol

But a handful of spots vs playoff experience, live game experience for young team and gained motivation? I'll take playoffs. Sign me up!!

Reaching the playoffs and missing Super Bowl gives the team a good taste of the ultimate goal. Puts some fire in them!!

Didn't The Packers go to The playoffs in 2009 and where 1 and done?
Then in 2010 when they made the playoffs as the 6th seed, what was the narrative?
Anything can happen.
And it did.
Experience in the playoffs overides any higher draft pick.
Most years IT'S ONLY 1 1ST ROUND PICK, and if we have only learned one thing from this year it's rookies take time to develope!
Not many who are picked say 15-32 are going to make a big splash their 1st year .
Experience always matters more!

I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.

wpr (23-Jul) : I thought so Mucky. In those useless player polls GB always rates high overall. Locker is a part of it.
