Haven't listened to this video by Bearded Metrosexual guy yet. But something occurs to me. Are the Packers "ok" against the run? Can we get by like this, if we prevent these QBs from running wild against us? 

If we can play with a lead, force teams to throw to keep up, are we good enough to win? How much of the damage has been done by running QBs like Hurts and Field? Genuinely asking.

I think that's why they were interested in Van Ness, they power and in theory being able to control the OL in both the pass rush and run defense. 


But the Packers scheme puts a lot of guys in coverage, so they have to stop the run with light boxes.

As for running QBs, defenses can't scheme for everything, abd running QBs is an extra pain.

With the new guys they have been bringing in the last two years, being good pass rushers but questionable in run defense, makes me a big nervous, unless we're planning on being more aggressive upfront maybe sending an extra guy more often.

I wasted 10 minutes of my life listening to the start of this video...I recommend you do not.

Just in the first 10 minutes it features the following blunders:

• Mind numbing generalities and contradictions
• Statements which illustrate he does not understand that defense  is more about team responsibilities and execution than "stars"
• Pass first defense in his mind  = Totally abandoning run defense (in so many words)
• His memory loss that the Packer defense STONED the 49ers in the playoff when we had terrible specially teams and fumbles

I generally give people who take the time to do videos the benefit of the doubt...but he is a fairly seasoned writer and should know better.
