Overview
Combination tight end with the projectable skill set to handle pass-catching and run-blocking duties at the next level. Currently, he’s a more effective blocker in space than in-line, but that is correctable with better hand usage and proper angles of entry into his base blocks. Kraft provides formational versatility that will be appealing for teams that make heavy use of 12 personnel (two tight ends). He has the body control and catch toughness to be more than just a traditional Y tight end. Kraft has Day 2 talent and should see the field early with a chance to become a TE1.

Strengths
  • Thick frame with plus athleticism.
  • Faster than he looks when opening his stride.
  • Dexterity to rescue throws behind him.
  • Absorbs contact and maintains focus through the catch.
  • Transitions quickly from catch to run on short stop routes.
  • Puts in the effort to sustain and drive the block.
  • Easy adjustments in space to collect move blocks.
  • Expects to put extra yardage in the books after the catch.

Weaknesses
  • Rolls into the top of the route.
  • Average speed to threaten the seam.
  • Needs to get through NFL routes with better pace.
  • Benefited from play-action to generate loads of open looks.
  • Tall pads, narrow base and wide hands as run blocker.

Small school players aways worry me. Big fish in a small pond can be a problem when he starts to wish with the sharks.

If his only contributions are blocking this year I'm ok with that.

Sarah Quick from Packers PR was moderating Tucker Kraft's conference call with us.

He dropped a "yes sir" and then quickly corrected it to "yes ma'am" while apologizing and saying...

"I had a couple drinks waiting for my name to be called."

Drafting two similar pass catching TEs seems to indicate that the offense is gonna be the undistilled version of what MLF wants. Getting similar TEs means they can run different stuff from the same offensive looks (the "illusion of complexity"). With more two TE sets in the future, it means there's less need for a #4 WR to a pivotal guy. And yes I know #4 WRs are generally not the best talent but with the abundance of 4 and 5 WR sets these days in the NFL it's not something to overlook.

South Dakota State's Tucker Kraft taken by Green Bay Packers in third round of NFL Draft

That came after a 2021 that saw Kraft catch 65 balls for 773 yards. After that breakthrough season he had lucrative NIL offers from several major conference schools to transfer, but Kraft chose to stick with the Jacks and win a ring. Now he'll begin his pursuit of similar success at the next level.

If Alabama was interested him, he can probably play.

*I know, this makes no sense. It just sounded good

Oddly what I saw in tape was he looked like a physical route runner, but once he got his hands on the ball, he seemed to go down surprisingly easy. As a blocker, currently he's not overpowering anyone at the line, he does try to block, but he does so just by getting in their way and walking off, like a basketball player.

Kraft is not a tweener, he's a straight up physical TE, with some adjustments in his technic, he'll be moving people at the line! And while he can get out on routes and catch, he's possible going to be confused for a WR.

But yes, absolutely, without #12, I think we're going to see more 12 personnel packages and Degara can also be an H-back.

Though they also seemed to draft WR Reed, whom if they want seems like could be a slot WR so could see 11 personnel still good but too.

Zero2Cool (9h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (13h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (13h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (14h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (14h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (14h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (14h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (14h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (14h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (14h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (14h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (14h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (15h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (15h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (15h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (15h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (17h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (17h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (17h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
