I guess he wasn't allowed #47 because it isn't a linebacker number? If that's the case, neither is #74 for Kampman.

I think that there are some loopholes around it if you've played another position or so. See Hester's 23 for instance, or Ronnie Brown lining up as a QB with number 23.

From what I understood, it was mainly to see eligible receivers and what not.

Anyway, I read up on it after missing most of the interview. Really liked what they had to say. I asume that they knew what to tell on most of the question, but Raji and Matthews both talking about their alledged drug use really just makes me that more comfortable. I didn't think Raji was that smart, but he really wasn't that bad in this interview.

Well I remember hearing last season that the NFL was going to make Hester change his number if he had a certain percentage of snaps at receiver....

I don't guess it really matters though, the number isn't what makes the plays.

Didn't hear anything about that, but I can imagine they would. WRs have enough choice since 2004, so no problems there.

I guess that number 94 is available now *sniff*. He'll play 50% of the snaps in the 4-3 or so still, so I don't think they'll have him change it just yet. If he keeps playing the elephant position in the 3-4, I doubt he'll ever have to. We'll see how it'll work out.

But, we're drifing off here.

Hawk had 47 in college as well. I believe in favor of Pat Tillman.

has anybody fantasized about Matthews being the game-changing player that we all hoped Hawk would be?

thats incorrect. Defensive linemen can wear any number from 50 to 79 and from 90 to 99.

* Numbers 1 to 19 are worn by quarterbacks, kickers, and punters.
* Since 2004,[3] Wide receivers are also allowed to wear numbers between 10 and 19 if they so choose, even if there's an 80-89 number available.
* Numbers 20 to 49 are worn by running backs, tight ends (40-49, when an 80-89 number is unavailable), cornerbacks and safeties.
* Numbers 50 to 59 are worn by linebackers and offensive linemen.
* Numbers 60 to 79 are worn by members of both the offensive line (the tackles, guards and centers) and defensive line (the defensive ends, defensive tackles or nose guard).
* Numbers 80 to 89 are worn by wide receivers and tight ends.
* Numbers 90 to 99 are worn by linebackers and defensive linemen. In effect since 1984.

Slick,

If you don't mind me jumping in here, You and Tiger are basically in agreement. The Question then becomes what position do you think Kampman will play THIS year.

Zero2Cool (19h) : If we add Isaiah Simmons, book your Super Bowl tickets
Mucky Tundra (19h) : Colts 1st round TE Tyler Warren also got prank called, was that Jax Ulbrich as well?
Zero2Cool (19h) : Jax Ulbrich, Jeff Ulbrich’s son, released an apology for his role in the Shedeur Sanders prank call.
Martha Careful (19h) : apparently he did not participate in practice or play on the east west shrine game nor the NFL combine. The kid was a mediocre spoiled brat
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Yeah that one that was a super wounded duck that Sanders supporters are highlighting to prove a point
