I'm starting not to like PFF grades... like it has Newman ahead of a lot of others on our OL, but he's pass blocking grade is low and we mainly pass the ball, they shouldn't be averaging out the grades equally when the play types aren't equally....
But their LT grade is probably extremely high, because the rest of the OL grade is extremely low, so he's never the one beating beaten, as one of the other guys is beaten first....
Also, I saw a lot of the negative plays by Jenkins at RT... and looked like 40-45% were poor teamwork or communications with teammates, especially Newman on DT/DE stunts...
It's like when Bulaga was at RT and the OGs switched... he had to adjust to playing with Lang, which was a more aggressive style than Sitton.
Right now, it looks like Jenkins is aggressive and Newman is passive in pass protection... and when one on one, that might be fine, but when the other team is running a stunt, they both need to be aggressive or passive or it sets up one of them for failure.
So the DT goes first and nailed the inside of aggressive Jenkins side, while Newman is being passive and hanging back while waiting for the DE to come around, but Jenkins has already lost, because the DT is both equal and inside of him, he has zero chance to recover from that roll...
Either Jenkins needs to be passive and have better vision and be sitting back and see that the DT is coming... or Newman needs to see it and be aggressive and knock the DT, at minimum stopping his moment to give Jenkins a chance... to come over before breaking away and getting the DE on the delayed inside stunt.
Another time, Jenkins seemed to talking with the RB... with a DB showing rush off the age... I don't know what was supposed to happen, but it appears they each thought the other was going to pick up the blitzing DB and nether of them did...
But seems like it's almost half communication and teamwork issues more than just Jenkins play.
Though Jenkins play did have issue against Matt Judon, though I'd say Judon is one of the most underrated technicians of the pass rushers.... Judon doesn't have the best speed or length, but done a masterful job of maximizing the tools he does have and yes wins.
But other than against Judon, I think Jenkins has done pretty dang good when one on one...
