While heating up a cup of coffee in the microwave this morning, it got me to thinking.
Back when I was a young boy, if you wanted to make a turkey pot pie, you had to turn on the oven, preheat it to 350 degrees for 20 minutes, put the pot pie in the oven, then wait 40 minutes or so until it's done. There were no microwaves, where you can do it in 4 minutes.
And there was no cable TV. We had THREE channels in Milwaukee, where I grew up. Channels 4, 6 and 12. That was it!
And gas? I remember when it was 19 CENTS a gallon!
And when we went to McDonald's, there was no inside dining. You went up, ordered your food, and ate in your car!
And hamburgers were 15 cents, cheeseburgers 19 cents. It was a big deal for us kids to go to McDonald's!
And if you were away from your house, and needed to make a telephone call, you had to find a pay phone, and you better have a pocket full of change, or you are out of luck!
Any of you have anything to add to this? You "old folks" out there!
