It doesn’t matter how talented or wily he is, history has shown that no wide receiver — rookie or veteran — is going to produce in Green Bay unless Aaron Rodgers gets off his high horse and deigns to “trust him.” I want to think Rodgers will get better about this now that Adams is out of the picture, but the best predictor of behavior is past behavior, and Rodgers was pulling this crap long before Adams was his go-to target. At this point, we have to hope that LaFleur will somehow find a way to hold Rodgers accountable; but with Rodgers having been handed the veritable keys to the kingdom, I’m not sure how LaFleur could go about doing that, short of benching Rodgers for his intransigence and likely setting off a mutiny on the sidelines and a riot in the stands.

Given the way Rodgers has spread the ball around better when Adams wasn’t on the field and the offense’s relative degree of success when that happened — not to mention the inability of Rodgers and MVS to ever establish any kind of consistent chemistry — I’m wondering if LaFleur and Gutekunst are even interested in equipping Rodgers with a top-tier receiver or dedicated over-the-top threat at this point. It seems to me that they might be content to simply surround Rodgers with a corps of journeyman receivers and tight ends, force him to rely on LaFleur to scheme them open, and lean heavily on the two-headed beast in the backfield as a safety valve. That’s most likely the best tactic for preserving Rodgers’ health and longevity in any case.

ANY QB needs to be able to trust his WRs.
And trust has to be EARNED.
How some find that to be a bad thing is beyond me.

Aaron is a mental case. Hopefully, without Davante, he will be forced to get over himself and hit the open guy.
