They had him for the vet minimum and cut him. This means it's not possible to sign him to a lesser contract. So anyone willing to pay at least the vet min will sign him. That wouldn't be the Packers, since they cut him in an apparent cap-saving move.

That's how I read the situation at least, but I could be wrong. If they're cutting him just to resign after the initial cap-clearing period (as you mentioned in the Cobb thread), that would make some sense.

Yup, you are mistaken, as he had a one year contract and the one year contract was up after the year. The Packers never released him from the contract, he's simply a FA and can sign with any team.

But usually you hear what teams are in the race to sign a guy, not who's NOT in the race to sign a guy.

Also, if the Packers aren't in the race to sign him... then are Packers looking at other FAs or the draft?

Looking at FA Punters, most of the better ones are over 31 and a number over 35. Very few under 30.
