The NFL's Rooney Rule demands that minorities are interviewed, I believe even an external minority as well. When I looked up their coaching history, I thought there was zero percent chance they'd be hired for offensive coordinator as they just recently got their first NFL position coaching role.

So yes, they interviewed some minorities to follow NFL rules. I don't think those guys would of been interviewed for offensive coordinator without the Rooney Rule. Though I believe they only had to do one minority for coordinator position and they did two, and they did one other white guy as well. So they did more than they had too.

But like I said, guys that just got their first NFL position coaching role aren't automatic going become coordinator. Unless they know a guy (like Clint Kubiak when Gary Kubiak stepped down)

Any time you try to FORCE a business to interview people for political correctness, I bet that hurts more then helps.
If I was looking for help, I would hire the best person for the job. I wouldn’t care what color skin they had, or if it was a man or a woman.
But that’s just me I guess.
Anyone that owns a pro sports team would be an idiot to pass up a minority if they were the best person for the job.

It's just a subconscious thing, based on experience. And a very large majority of the owners happen to be white.

I think the only thing the Rooney Rule does is get minorities a lot more interviews... which I assume might be helpful in terms of improving their interview skills... but if they already got a guy in mind, then they're simply fake interviews.

Now back to the Texans... they seemed to fire a staffer that everyone seems to absolutely love... and seems to have fired her for publicly celebrating a Democratic political win on her own time, as her only publicly known negative thing she did, and it was right after that.

And now it seems the Texans Owners has Jack Easterby running the football show, and his football background is be a chaplain and character coach. Like, he played basketball and golf in highschool, so I'm not she he's ever put on football pads, and the owner seems to be giving him full control to over ride the football people.

Easterby is now trying to get his good friend QB Josh McCown hired as the Texans head coach, despite the fact he has zero college or professional coaching experience. McCown's experience is just short of two decades in the NFL, and oh yeah, he's good friends with Easterby via their Fellowship of Christian Athletes connection.

Now, I have nothing against good peaceful and open-minded Christians, but based on the Texans actions, I feel like it's fair to ask if the Texans are looking for the best football people, or the best Christians. Because it hasn't seemed like it's best football people lately.

Packers will never change until change from up top happens. Every year since Holmgren left its the same promote from within crap. The BOD only cares about the team doing juat enough to make the playoffs to make them their $.

MLF is not a good coach and seems like a yes man. Our offense was a joke this year yet they dont seem to wanna fix it

Granted, those are season stats, not year stats, so I guess you are right when you say the Packers offense was a joke this year. They lost to Lions and 49ers this year with the only win coming against the Vikings.

Seasonal stats dont mean anything when u cant translate it to the post season where actual good teams are playing.

Granted, we did go 5-1 vs playoff teams this season which really impressed me and gave me false hope for a nice playoff run.

Hes a yes man as in he will do what all the prior coaches did by promoting from within instead of brining in actual talented coaches saving $ for the higher ups.

U guys should really look into the 5 families that run the Packers. U will see why Mike McCarthy became our coac to begin with and why tbis organization will never win another SB due to keeping thier circle close to family and not brining in new and talented folks

Anyhow, I respect your opinion, I just very much disagree with it. I do knock him for the Special Teams issues, even though they were trying new things and yeah yeah, once the season starts you're pretty much who you are and not much you can do to change your identity. I still think better players should have played on Special Teams. If you look around the league, the teams with good Special Teams don't pussy out by playing scared with star players. You play to WIN THE GAME.

As far as the Texans and their owner, he has a right to choose whoever he wants. If it ends up as a stupid choice, in the end he ends up paying for it as his team will suck.
You are most likely right in saying that most teams will choose who they think will agree with their views on things in life as well as football.
I bet most non Christian people would do the same thing.
I doubt an atheist would Choose a born again Christian that prays to God for guidance to run their company.

I like the hiring of Stenavich as I think he may be more creative in the run game.

But, I am trying to square the following facts....How can we have had:
- a potential MVP quarterback
- coach of the year candidate who calls the plays
- an OC who was good enough to have been named a head coach
- a QB coach who is good enough to have been named OC
- an OL coach who was just named OC

yet

after the first drive, could not figure out a way to do virtually anything against the 49ers?

With all that geniusness and talent, it seems they should have done better.

As we have seen way too many times from the Packers.
As you stated, it’s hard to see how they went down the field on that first drive, and then did nothing the rest of the game.
To me, the Lewis fumble on the second drive killed us. They were moving the ball again, and that just killed us and gave the Niners the momentum. I think had we scored there, it would have completely changed the game.

He is a creditable HC. Just look at Rodgers numbers in 2017 and 2018. After Matt showed up in GB Aaron turned his game around and became, once again an MVP caliber QB. Matt isn't perfect. I doubt anyone would say he is. He should have gone to a different game plan for the KC game when Aaron couldn't play.

In addition don't look at every lay that was ran and blame MLF. Rodgers changes the play at the LOS a lot. Even then Rodgers chooses who to throw the ball to. There were many occasions all season long including the SF playoff game where he passed over wide open receivers to throw the ball to Adams who was double covered. Getting a first down, burning time off the clock and moving into FG position would have been all they needed. That was on Rodgers not MLF.
