"Boomer Esiason received a text from a trusted source which indicates that Aaron Rodgers will threaten to boycott the Super Bowl, should the Packers make it that far."

"He's told Jordan Love to be ready"

I call Bulldung. Rodgers cares too damn much about his teammates for that.

I could see Rodgers make a
bold threat, but only if he might actually consider backing it up. I don't see Rodgers even considering backing this threat up. So I don't buy this one bit.

They put in all the work to win Super Bowls, you don't skip out of the last minute.

If Rodgers is skipping something, it'll be the MVP voting awards or Pro Bowl or anything else the NFL wants from him, like the Disney trip if he wins Super Bowl MVP.

We can always believe anonymous sources right?

This makes no sense on multiple levels. First, he is working as part of a team to even get to the super bowl and boycottting the game would be a slap in the face to all his teammates. Second, my guess is that he just focusing on just winning the next playoff game and a statement like this is just a distraction to that goal.

It may be possible that he could try to boycott the press days and other events leading up to the super bowl but not the game itself. Even that would probably be too much of a distraction.

I don't doubt Boomer got the text from his "source". I seriously doubt the source knows anything. It's probably someone who is laughing and saying, "Wouldn't it be funny if Rodgers did ..."

Even if it were true, Aaron wouldn't tell this so called source this is what his plan is. It's self defeating. The boycott would only have effect if it was a last minute deal. Not something he would say a month before.

If GB didn't make it to the SB, Aaron would look like an absolute fool. That would bring forth all the media hyenas who would claim his teammates rolled over on him. That they hate him and how he lied to them all year long. Aaron is too smart to do something this stoopid. Cancel Culture only wishes he did.

Esiason’s co-host, Gregg Giannotti, added a second clip that shows the two hosts reaching a conclusion that it was some sort of a prank.

The original clip from @BackAftaThis should have included that part, frankly. However, when choosing to engage in real-time vetting of potentially phony tips during a live radio show, there’s a chance that some in the audience won’t hear the part where, after expressing confidence in the accuracy of the information, the hosts come to the conclusion that it was all a hoax. That’s why it always make sense to run tidbits like this through the crap filter before the show, not during it.

Oh so they (or their editor) purposely put incomplete click bait out there. Not surprising, it just hasn't been done to this degree in sports radio for a while (that I know of).

Could you imagine IF Rodgers did boycott, Love starts and tears it up (300+ yards with 3-5 TDs) while winning the game?
