Again, the team, the medical staff, the league all knew his status. To whom was he supposedly "lying?"

Everyone is entitled to their opinion-and apparently has one- regarding whether and when Aaron lied or did not lie. For myself and pretty much the rest of the English speaking planet, it was when he said, "yeah" and went on to characterize his views regarding others vaxxed and not vaxxed in that same August press conference. Most reasonable people (imo) took the totality of his statement in the context it was delivered -in totality-and concluded he lied. I get that some feel that his perspective outweighs the objectively viewed veracity of his statements. I would refer those people to George Castanza's worldview:

"Jerry, it's not a lie if you believe it."

We all very obviously bring our biases to the table. This discussion certainly highlights that human condition.

Just one more thing I would like to comment upon, going back to my original thesis regarding intellect vs. wisdom. He could have gone ALL DAY holding back on his perspective that the NFL representative sent is/was a "stooge" while under investigation by that same NFL. While possibly the truest statement he has made to date (that's humor, folks), I don't find it especially wise, either .

Media has to make an example of him. He did not adhere to the imperial narrative.

The NFL very clearly noted that as a flat out lie on Friday afternoon through multiple "sources" -- and, as Andrew Brandt noted, the NFL was pissed (about that lie/misleading tidbit).

Aaron went off-the-cuff on Friday, and his statement today was SO much more prepared. It's interesting the apology was so vague - almost like a lawyer wrote the darn thing... and I think part of that was to not piss off the league any further (while possibly apologizing to the league heads without explicitly stating as much) in addition to PR damage control. Fortunately, someone made Aaron Rodgers realize the less he says about this, the better (and less the public perception of him being an idiot).

There is also the fact that he wasn't following protocols his own union agreed to, thus making media members (who, mind you, contribute to the popularity of the NFL and Packers' franchise) think he was unvaccinated.

Long story short, Aaron's response today will go a long way towards making this a non-story. Probably first smart thing he's done publicly in the last week or so -- and I note that he didn't file suit against the league for defamation/libel either (as you, nerdman, had insisted he should/would do). Regardless of who is on his "medical team", it's good to see Aaron Rodgers has some sensible lawyers advising him that (saying) less is more and advising him on what constitutes good litigation strategy.

I'm completely shocked that Aaron Rodgers has yet to file suit agains the NFL and that Nerdman has yet to even attempt to convince me that COVID is a scam/the vaccine isn't really a vaccine.

Yo Nerdman, where's my snickers?

And if such unmeritorious prognostications are proven false, said poster has no one else but themselves to blame for being called out on their BS in the course of discussion.

Thank goodness Aaron Rodgers came to his senses and did a complete 180 on his approach so that we could all move on from this. And he isn't retiring -- Aaron's market is at least $40 million a year still (and assuming even a couple more years in the league means at least $100,000,000 in earnings when factoring in his earnings for the rest of this league year), and you don't give that up just because half-way through a season you got caught up in a shit storm.

If anything, it will likely make Aaron Rodgers even more pissed to prove a point - and whenever there is an added chip on Aaron's shoulders, his play is pretty phenomenal in response.

He owes no one an apology.
