In the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers could have selected T.J. Watt. Instead of one of the best defenders in the league, Packers wound up with Kevin King.

Didn't like Watt there. Remember at the time, he had just torn up his knee.

Didn't care for King's history either, just saying. King was also a trade nack into the 2nd roubd, iirc.

Where are the articles about other teams missing out on players the Packers picked? There has to be teams upset they didn't take Kenny Clark, Davante Adams, Jaire Alexander ... where those at?

Yeah this type of situation can be brought up in a lot of different cases. Too bad we passed on Adrian Peterson to draft AJ Hawk too.

If GB drafts Watt, who's playing opposite of him? Does Gutey still sign Z to a massive contract? Does Preston get signed as a cheaper fill in option? Do they draft some mid-tier guys in later rounds instead of Gary? A large part of the success that GB has had in terms of creating pressure and getting to the QB has revolved around rotating the Smith Bros and Gary as well as lining them up all over.

Easy to criticize with hindsight, but even without that - it was obvious in the moment that they took the wrong guy.

All of that said - it is true that things would have been handled differently as far as free agency and future drafts. No telling what roster we might have now. Instead of having a guy like Z or Gary, he might be expected to do it all himself - happens more often than most would think.
