I'm tired of hearing about the draft. I just want the actual games to start. I will be even more annoyed by the meaningless draft "grades" teams are given.

5 minutes after the draft is over, they are already grading the teams' respective drafts. This whole thing annoys me. Lets just play the games already. (insert Debbie Downer picture here)

Here is the thing... this is the closest to football in the spring that you can get outside college spring practices.. and since I don't have access and time, this is how I get my football fix in the spring.

I am having serious withdrawals.. fever, shakes and this uncontrollable urge to throw a set of shoulder pads on and absolutely drill the nearest QB looking figure.. lol.

What annoys me the most is this. Everyone is all excited about the draft at this point, including me, and when it's over, nothing has actually happened. You get left with a sense of dissapointment. You know, that 'Was that it?' feeling. Just to get remembered that the actual football season is still quite some months away.

Well, post draft mini's come up quickly, QB school, etc...

But yes there is a damn cold period for a while where the football world seems to sit still.. hard times man... hard times.. wish there was a summer developmental league or something to pass the time.

I don't mind the period right after the draft. I get to research the hell out of the players chosen by GB and wonder what roster battles will be good etc.

It's about a week or two after the draft that I hit my low point. Then I can't wait for blurbs about minicamp and training camp to start showing up.

The part I find hard to take is the long period of silence between the draft and when GB actually SIGNS their boys on the dotted line. Especially when other teams are much quicker on the draw.
It starts with the somewhat meaningless signings of the 6th and 7ths round choices and slowly matriculates up to the top picks.

(And before an English major corrects my erroneous use of "matriculate", I know. It was a nod to Hank Stram's quote "Let's matriculate the ball down the field, boys." For those of you who do not know, matriculate does not mean "to move". It means "to enroll as a member of a body and especially of a college or university.") Thus ends our English lesson for today.

Haven't we had all of our picks in on time for several years now? I'm not sure what the big deal is if its done in the first week of the off season or the last week. Just as long as its done before they miss any time.
