New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers opener could be moved to AT&T Stadium

Hurricane Ida already forced the cancellation of the New Orleans Saints final preseason game and led to the team moving its practices to Dallas. With the full extent of the devastation in the region still unknown, there’s a chance the Week 1 opener at Caesars Superdome could be moved.

The Category 4 storm left much of New Orleans without power as of Monday morning and there is devastating damage in the region. While the Saints do have time before they must return for their home opener, with a matchup against the Green Bay Packers set for Sept. 12, the NFL is at least thinking about a fallback plan.

Might as well play it in Lambeau given Green Bays track record in Jerryworld.

I heard them say the “Stuperdome” appeared to be undamaged.
Of course, who knows how detailed their search of the place was. Or for that matter, if they can fix the damage around the place in time for the game.
Taking it to Dallas I think would favor the Packers, as it would not be a home game for either team. And we know how well Packer fans travel.

I have been waiting to hear if they plan to use it as a shelter for those who are homeless after the storm.

Packers_Stains game site uncertain, New Orleans, Dallas ruled out

The Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints are scheduled to open the 2021 season playing one another, but where remains an open question.

It was believed they could play on Sept. 12 at the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium, which is where the Saints have been practicing after they left New Orleans over the weekend ahead of Hurricane Ida, but a report Tuesday said a concert scheduled there on Sept. 15 could prevent that.

Looks like Jerryworld is off the table. What about the dome in St. Louis?

St. Louis would be good..,.for the Packers!
A lot closer to Green Bay! Easier for the fans to travel too.
Of course, who knows if it’s even possible.

Packer fans will fill up the stadium at Jax.
Tough road game turns into friendly home game.

QB1 comes out firing.
New defense shows up.

This could get ugly.

Based on reports Jenkins has done great at LT, but at least did have one day where he really struggled with Preston Smith, which his length is his strength and the Saints have some of DEs with extremely long reach. So our OTs might have to be extra careful with that.

That being said, the Saints best DT is suspended and former Packers DT Ringo is listed as a starter... and former Packers DT Adams was just picked up... avoid the DEs and attack the hell out of their DTs! Which hopefully will allow for long time consuming drives and keep RB Kamara off the field.

On office, the Saints have an elite OL and RB, and a QB and play caller who always put up huge passing numbers, though their receivers are worse than they had in the past and this QB was known for a lot of INTs when he was in Tampa.

Uh-oh. Both Smiths are on the injury report. Z probably isn't going to play but if Preston is limited at all it could be rough generating a pass rush since the Saints have a good pair of OTs.

One thing that I'm amazed no one has talked about is facing off against the Franchise Quarterback aka the Living Weapon aka The Man of a Thousand Uses aka the Future of the Saints at QB aka The Guy Sean Payton Raved About aka The One Thompson Let Get Away aka You Get the Idea-Taysom Hill

Oh wait, no one is talking about him because he's not the starting QB for the Saints, Winston is. Winston can put a big game if you let him. But if GB can get some pressure and make things hard on him, INT chances will be there.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
