Dennis Kelly was the Titans long term #3 OT behind two really good ones, and at times was often used as a blocking TE... even got at least two TDs in that role, including setting the record for heaviest player have a TD reception in a playoff game.
The Titans clearly over paid Kelly when they knew they would be losing their starting RT... and drafted a 1st rounder to take over for him (though the player didn't take NFL seriously and got kicked out after a year despite being a 1st rounder). I believe they drafted another RT in the top rounds again.
Note, Titans have been a very run heavy team, and in a run heavy scheme, which probably hide some of his potential pass blocking woes.
Kelly was also called the Covid enforcer and Union Rep for the Titans last year... Covid enforcer, as he kept calling out teammates ASAP when they weren't following the covid protocols, which he stated was being he wanted to keep everyone on the field. Teammates said it was annoying, but in a good way, because he's keeping them safer and keeping risk of out break and them missing games down. Which I believe the Titans did later have an outbreak.
I'm thinking this is horrible news for Nijman, which I thought was also the case when they reported had Braden (a clear OG and new to the team last year) starting at LT in OTAs.
My guess is Kelly will be asked from be the backup OT behind Jenkins and Turner until Bak gets back. While they try to get rookie Newman up to speed at OT (at least RT).
