Aaron Rodgers wasn't upset about the Packers selecting QB Jordan Love in the 2020 draft. His issues with the organization are more about "a philosophy and maybe forgetting that it is about the people that make the thing go."

"A lot of this was put in motion last year, and the wrench was just kind of thrown into it when I won MVP and played the way I played last year," Rodgers said during the interview. "This is just kind of, I think, a spill-out of all that. But it is about the people, and that's the most important thing. Green Bay has always been about the people -- from Curly Lambeau being owner and founder to the '60s with [Vince] Lombardi and Bart Starr and all those incredible names to the '90s teams with coach [Mike] Holmgren and Favrey [Brett Favre] and the Minister of Defense [Reggie White] to the run that we've been on. It's about the people."

Big surprise here. Brian is well-respected.

Jim Nagy ✔ @JimNagy_SB : Packers GM Brian Gutekunst is one of most well-respected guys among his peers within the league. There’s some FO guys that lack people skills but Gutekunst isn’t one of them. He’s admitted he could’ve handled Rodgers situation differently but he’s typically good at relationships.

I don't believe a word Rodgers says at this point, probably never will again.

Aaron Rodgers made it no secret he didn't think any activities should be done prior to August 1st. He fought for this in the CBA. He has talked about how good he felt with missing team activities in 2020. That has me wondering if he's just posturing to skip activities and then come into camp in August saying things are better, we had a great healthy conversation, blah blah and looks like the savior.

“It’s about character. It’s about culture. It’s about doing things the right way. A lot of this was put in motion last year. The wrench was just kind of thrown into it when I won the MVP and played the way I played last year. So this is just kind of I think the spill out of all that. But look, man, it is about the people, and that’s the most important thing. Green Bay has always been about the people, from Curly Lambeau being owner and founder to the ’60s with Lombardi and Bart Starr and all those incredible names to the ’90s teams with Coach Holmgren and Favre-y and the Minister of Defense to the run that we’ve been on. It’s about the people.”

But it’s really not. Saying football is “about the people” is no different that saying “football is family.” No, football is business and it’s good for business to say things like “football is family.”

For Rodgers, it’s good for his standing in the eyes of a skeptical fan base to say, “It’s about the people.”

The truth is that it’s only “about the people” to the extent it’s about people Rodgers doesn’t like. Whether it’s G.M. Brian Gutekunst, CEO Mark Murphy, or one or more others in the front office, it’s clear that Rodgers has had enough of some of the people in the Packers organization, to the point where he wants to continue his career with other people.

“It’s about the people”.......can someone please tell me what the hell that means!?!?
Was it about “the people” when he signed the gigantic multi million dollar contract?
Nope.
It was about THE MONEY.
Had he not been so greedy, eating up such a huge amount of cap space, maybe the Packers could have signed big name players that could have helped win some more Super Bowls.
He’s trying to play like he’s such a thoughtful guy. When he’s showing himself to be a self centered diva. If he truly gave a damn about his teammates, he’d stop whining, suit up, and play his heart out for THEM. These games he’s playing is hurting them too. But once again, it’s all about HIM.
And WHY did it take the Packers drafting a QB in the first round to get him motivated to play up to his best potential???
I’ve lost all respect for him.

The Packers history and legacy is what it is because they win. You know "winning isn't everything it's the only thing." Wasn't it Ron Wolf's philosophy he would rather move on from a player a year early rather than a year late? Is that part of "doing things the right way." The reality of it is this is a business and that business aspect of the NFL is what puts about $3 million a month in ARods pocket.
What I recall is the Packers have fared pretty well on some tough calls to let long standing players go most often proving to be the right move. it's a business and tough calls have to be made. They have also held on to some longer than a lot of rich owners would have who really only have the bottom line at heart. Mike Sherman should have never been a GM in the first place and should have been pulled after one year. They held on to Ted too long and McCarthy also.
By all accounts Gutey and Murphy are not heartless souls and I don't see where they are doing anything to harm the Packers legacy....unless continuing to build on their winning ways is no longer the goal.

Here's an idea. If Aaron wants to be guaranteed starter, how about he plays for the veteran minimum.

I have no problem with Love being #2 for three years. That's what Aaron did. Let him develop.

I don't like this salary cap BS we're in. I don't want to have to blow it up and rebuild with a young QB. Let's give him a contender, to help him get up to speed.

Give a little, get a little. Packers can wipe some bullshit off the cap, Aaron gets another year. Win/win situation?

Aaron Rodgers : “Soylent Green.....it’s....it’s......it’s the PEOPLE!!!”
🤪😂😂😂

I keep forgetting....there are a lot of “youngins” on this site that most likely won’t get the joke.
