I certainly think Belichick knows how to stop this scheme (which we run as well), he's beaten the Falcons and Rams in the Super Bowl whom were running this scheme.
That being said, this scheme is largely about taking pressure off the QB.
How do they do this? By making the RB more of a focal point and making putting more pressure on the RB.
When did Goff drop off? When RB Todd Gurley dropped off.
And important to note, the Lions probably aren't running the wide zone, like the Rams did, probably more like a run heavy version of the Saints.
And I believe Rodgers has been fooled a number of times by this tactic as well, which teams using his smarts against him.
They're show heavy against the run, to get him to audible into a pass play, and then the defense was clearly gambling it'd be a pass play. Or show big holes against the run and then try to quickly fill them with run blitzes after trying to get Rodgers to check into a run.
Basically they're playing chess out there, I've seen some times where he's loss, he's probably won a lot of times and I thought it was just the defense screwing up, when it was a great job by Rodgers.
