Looks like he's basically on a one year, $14 million deal. But they could save $11 million by releasing or trading him.
In theory a team might be willing to trade a late round pick for that contract, of course, if they're willing to risk FA, then they can sign him for cheaper in FA.
But he might be the best younger guy left if a team is looking for a younger guy.
Packers don't exactly have a lot of money freed up... but we signed him to a contract before showing him interest. We can tell him, look how his ex teammate Amos is doing. Might get to beat the Bears twice a year.
But how much of an upgrade over King is he? Certainly a bit, but enough to pay the big money?
Also lots of older names still out there... Richard Sherman and Patrick Peterson. Now those two are past their prime, but I would find it interesting a team signing both of them, and them being on the same team. Of course, it's unlikely as Sherman is know. For cover 3 zone, while Peterson is known for man coverage.
