him for not spending a brinks truck this offseason.. or maybe those two slap me.. hmm that probably is the thought on the pic..

Seriously though, out of all his offseason here so far, I am the most comfortable with this one. We have questions on the roster, but we have a number of options at most of them.

The draft and reaction after it shakes out will be vital at depth on the defensive line and offensive tackle questions.. but honestly I have the best feeling about this team since Ted Thompson has got here.

And usually I am a bit pissy in the offseason about his plodding ways.

Not getting Haynesworth kind of ruined free agency for me but we can somewhat salvage the off season if the following happens.

1. Sign a good veteran DT kind of like we did with Grady Jackson a few years back. I dont know if anyone is out there, probably not.

2. Trade one or both if we have to of our 3rd rounders and our 2nd rounder for a decent 1st round pick.

3. Use the 9th pick and the other pick we get from the trade to get both Michael Oher(Watching him move is like watching an athletic linebacker) and Tyson Jackson, Michael Johnson or Everett Brown with the other pick.

What if Rodgers, Jennings, Grant, and Woodson all go down with season-ending injuries and we end up winning, oh, seven games? How will you feel about Thompson then?

I have said just recently if your starting QB gets hurt your pretty much screwed and that's the case for 30 other teams out there too.

As far as Jennings goes, you move up Jones and Nelson. Not the same but not that bad either. We have three decent RB's to come in behind Grant and Williams would take over for Woodson.

I would say that is about as good of depth as you would find anywhere to fill in for some very important players and about all you could ask of any GM to have ready.

Jones is underrated. Didn't he start 2 games in his rookie season? And if I remember correctly, didn't we win both of them?

Seriously, Jones is a good WR. He never gets any credit. Everyone here seems to be in love with Jordy but if we got Crabtree I'd rather we shopped Jordy than Jones.

Now as for the cap, that's one thing I'll have to give thumbs up to TT. Good job Ted Thompson for getting us out of cap hell.

Whether we like it or not, football is a business, and we can't go unprofitable year after year and expect there to be a Green Bay Packers.

Now if either Woody or Aaron went down, we'd have a serious problem, especially Aaron. I'm not impressed at all by Flynn or Brohm, and Woody is probably our MVP on D.

Just curious to know what team has the good backup that they wouldn't miss a beat. I'm thinking Cleveland can do it, NE showed they could last year. Other than that you have a point.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I'm disappointed, because I was hoping we would get at least one impact player, and maybe a couple. But on the other hand, it was not a great free agent crop, and I believe that drafting well, and yes, "growing from within," are much more important for a team's success. So I don't see it as a big deal that we didn't get any major or even mid-level free agents.

I feel like, yeah we coulda landed some immediate help, and was very disappointed (as usual) this time of year. But after thinking about it, this time of year two years ago we did about the same thing and we ended up going to the NFC Championship. So you never really know how its going to work out. I feel we probably could have added a couple of good players if we opened up the pocket book, but nobody that would put us over the top. I'm more excited to see who Thompson selects on the first day of the Draft and to see if they actually provide that immediate impact we need to compete for the Divison.

Yeah, I'm also excited to see which of our young players emerge this year and help us try to get to the playoffs. It seems to happen every year. Tramon Williams is the best example from last year. Did anyone here expect 5 INT's and 2 FF's out of him going into 2008, or that a certain percentage of the Packers fanbase would practically favor him over Harris in the starting lineup? Players will grow, and I see a lot of promise in guys like Nelson, Thompson, Finley, etc.
