With Mason Crosby opting out of 2020 season, the Packers need a Placekicker. This could be a changing of the guard too as Crosby was showing some signs of age.

Should GB look for a kicker who already has league experience? or

Should GB look for some rookie just out of college? or

Should GB put out an open invitation to try out for for GB's open Placekicker job? or

Is there some other option not listed to find a Placekicker that the Packers can trust and rely upon?

Put a call into Stephen Gostkowski.
Next best option would be to see if Graham Gano has recovered.
Of the young kids Jet Toner or Jace Christmann seem to be the best options.
Maybe Cole Tracy is available.

Crosby has not signed the opt-out clause offered to every NFL player who felt it was not safe for him or his family to risk contracting COVID-19 while at work.

But he was added Thursday to the Packers’ reserve/COVID-19 list, which means he either tested positive for the virus or was in a place where the risk of being exposed was elevated.

PUP list or opting out, Covid-19 is no joke. Physical brutes have been reduced to weaklings and those considered very healthy have died. I wish Mason Crosby all the best, but not being prepared with another placekicker would be reckless. I don't know if there is an opt out deadline, but gambling on a single player at a scoring critical position with the continuing possibility that your single player could get sick is dangerous.

I still say find and hire another placekicker. Place him on the practice squad if necessary, but get the best kicker available, pay him to step up or be ready to step up. Past practices don't all apply with a Viral Pandemic raging all about us. I would also examine the roster for someone that can also punt a football should the need arise. Cross train the 2nd and 3rd QBs to serve as holders for the placekicker as well.

PUP list or opting out

The guys that got it now should be over Covid by the start of the season and science suggest they should have at least a three month immunization window.

This virus attacks the lungs and takes time to recover, considering kickers probably don't stress their lungs as much as other positions. If Crosby says he's playing, then I'd probably be more concerned with the others that caught the virus, and those whom I thought might be more likely to catch it.

He will be back in a coupe of weeks. No need to sign a kicker and have him sit on the bench waiting. The guys who have not signed with a team are a dime a dozen. You can get them any time.
