I keep seeing where NFL players want to play this season, but want the NFL to make it safer.
Pray tell, how do they do that? Wrap each player in bubble wrap?

Keep those the test positive away from the rest of the players for twos weeks

Small groups at first, and groups of 20 so that if (or when there is an out break, it hopefully will be limited.

Here’s a quick summary of some of the pending issues, per a source with knowledge of the call. The list isn’t intended to be exhaustive or complete.

The NFLPA continues to push for a limit of 20 players in the facility at any given time for the first three weeks of camp. The union separately wants the NFL to be prohibited from ever having more than 20 players in the building until a formal Infectious Disease Emergency Response plan (i.e., procedures in the event of an outbreak) is signed.

The NFLPA also is considering on expedited grivance, in the event that the league requires players to report without an agreement in place as to the IDER. The goal would be to get a ruling within three days, given the urgency of the situation.

The union also believes that the final rules will give players the ability to individually opt out of the season. However, there will not be a vote of all players on any final proposed agreement with the league.

Another lingering issue relates to the procedures that apply if a player tests positive while the team is in another city, in preparation for a road game. The NFL will be making a proposal as to this issue and others soon.

The NFL hired the same company, BioReference Laboratories, that the NBA and MLS hired to get tests complete in about 24 hours while their general public tests are generally a couple of days.

Though sounds like the NFL is might only do two weeks of daily testing, which doesn't sound great.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFL has agreed to conduct daily COVID-19 testing.

Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports that the daily testing will last for a minimum of two weeks, and that it thereafter can be adjusted. (The players won’t want it to be adjusted.)

The players had pushed aggressively for daily testing. The league had wanted to test less frequently, in part because there are questions regarding the utility of daily testing — in part because test results won’t be available for roughly 24 hours.

It seems they would have to test everyone every week for it to stop any possible outbreak. Otherwise there will be the constant threat of an outbreak in the NFL.
And yes, the President is trying to get businesses and the schools up and running again. More are killed by other people each year then this disease has done.

Jmo of course.

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
