Around 10pm tonight, I went outside to take out the garbage. I looked up in the night sky, and I saw something moving. It was NOT a plane. WAY too high. Then, I noticed ANOTHER ONE behind it. Then another, then another.....it went on like that until there were literally DOZENS of these things.
I called my wife outside to see it ( then I fell down the stairs).
I was in such a hurry, thinking they would have stopped, and she would think I was nuts. (More then normal) but they still were coming. She watched for several minutes, then went back inside. I stayed outside and watched these “things” still going across the sky. I honestly have NO idea what they were. I have always liked sky watching, and have never seen anything like this.
Anyone have any idea what I was seeing?

April Meteor Shower

The Lyrid Meteor Shower is usually active between April 16 and 25 every year. It tends to peak around April 22 or 23.

Oldest Recorded Meteor Shower
Named after constellation Lyra, the Lyrids are one of the oldest recorded meteor showers—according to some historical Chinese texts, the shower was seen over 2,500 years ago. The fireballs in the meteor shower are created by debris from comet Thatcher, which takes about 415 years to orbit around the Sun. The comet is expected to be visible from Earth again in 2276.

What Time is the Meteor Shower Tonight
The table is updated daily when the Lyrids are active and shows the position of the radiant in the sky for the upcoming night. The Lyrids will be active starting Apr 16, 2020. Use the date drop down above the Interactive Meteor Shower Sky Map to change dates.

Lyrids meteor shower for Naples (Night between April 18 and April 19)

Sun 7:00 am 297°West-northwest 68.6°
Direction to see the Lyrids in the sky:

Azimuth is the direction, based on true north; a compass might show a slightly different value.
Altitude is height in degrees over horizon.

You don't need any special equipment or a lot of skills to view a meteor shower. Even though all you really need is a clear sky, lots of patience, and our handy Interactive Meteor Shower Sky Map with a visibility conditions meter to see a meteor shower, the following tips can help maximize your shooting star viewing experience.

Find a secluded viewing spot, away from the city lights. Once at the venue, your eyes may take 15 to 20 minutes to get used to the dark.
Dress for the weather, and make sure you are comfortable, especially if you plan to stay out long. Bring a blanket or a comfortable chair with you—meteor watching can be a waiting game.

Once you have found your viewing spot, lie down on the ground and look up in the direction of the radiant. Use our Interactive Meteor Shower Sky Map or the table above to find the current direction of the radiant in the sky.

These “things” were not meteors. They were not going as fast as meteors, and they were spaced the same distance apart. They were much faster then planes, but didn’t shoot across the sky like meteors do .They went from south west to north east. When one was almost directly above, another would appear in the south west sky, on the same exact trajectory as the previous one.
I’ve watched plenty of meteor showers over my 62 years. This was something very different. I’ve even seen satellites and even the space station fly over.
2 of these UFOs started in different areas, and then got in line with the other ones. Like I said, dozens of them over at least 15 minutes.
I’m not joking. This was unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
That’s what has me so confused. I’ve seen strange things before. Nothing like this.
I wish I knew what I was watching.

I’m still trying to figure out what we saw. I’m baffled. I keep wondering why I haven’t seen anything about it on the web. We can’t be the only ones that saw what happened.

If they were flying in formation, I would assume they were probably drones of some sort.

Your story reminds me of this report  from your general area, which was filed about a month ago.

Can drones be that high up?
The satellite idea seems to fit more what we saw. They were far apart, you would see 3 across the entire sky at once. All the same distance apart. All going the same speed.
I had never heard of those kinds of satellites. Maybe that was what they were.👽

Distances in the night sky are almost impossible to judge, so I don't know how high up they were. Satellites don't typically travel in formation, but I have heard that Elon Musk's new fleet of "Starlink" satellites is visible from the ground, so maybe that's what you saw!

I checked the Starlink site, and it lists times we should be able to see them (weather permitting). Tomorrow night (Friday April 24) it lists around 8:50 to 9:10 pm in our area. So I’m going to try to see if I can spot them again. If so, the mystery will be solved.
Thanks again for the info! I was truly baffled!
My wife was saying to me “the mother ship is coming to pick you up! HE’S OVER HERE!!!”😂

I went outside tonight, and I saw the starlink satellites.
So I’m now certain that the mystery was solved by Non.

Mucky Tundra (51m) : Notre Lame vs Pedo St tonight and the Luckeyes vs Texas tomorrow
Mucky Tundra (1h) : Stud
Zero2Cool (3h) : E. Cooper. Rookie of Month. Defense.
Mucky Tundra (8-Jan) : @AaronNagler · 2m Both Jordan Love and Malik Willis were Limited participants at Packers practice today.
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Johnson didn't make it until 2020. Ring 2023. 🤷 Personally, he should have been in years prior to Hall.
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : HUMP DAY
beast (8-Jan) : Guys that have a good shot at making the NFL Hall of Fame usually get into their teams pretty fast
beast (8-Jan) : Yeah, but is Kampman and the others in the NFL Hall of Fame?
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Johnson was Hall of Fame, 2020. Should haev been in Ring a year later, not three years.
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : I could be wrong there though
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Guys like Kampman, Tim Harris, Al Harris, etc all over 15 years. Hall of Fame is 5 year wait
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : I guess I see players in Packers Hall come way later
beast (8-Jan) : Yeah, usually teams hall of fames are a much lower bar than the NFL
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : is it uncommon for Hall before Ring?
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : S Xavier McKinney named first-team All-Pro by NFLPA
beast (8-Jan) : I missed it, sorry, but he got into the NFL Hall of Fame years before that
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Jones took his sweet ole time!
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Yeah, he's in the ring of honor, just saw video and his name is up there
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Didn't they have a thing in 2023 for Jimmy's ring of honor? I swear I saw it
beast (8-Jan) : Though if they're legitimately trying to re-sign MM, then it makes sense.
beast (8-Jan) : Jerry Jones still hasn't put Jimmy Johnson in the Ring of Honor, but he's in the NFL's Hall of Fame, Jones is petty
Mucky Tundra (8-Jan) : Unless the Cowboys are planning an extension, seems kinda petty
beast (8-Jan) : Cowboys denied Bears request
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : From what I'm reading, MM is under contract through the 14th of January; after that he's free game
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : McCarthy let go or not extended??
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Chicago Bears have asked the Dallas Cowboys permission to interview Mike McCarthy for head coaching vacancy
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : The winners page that is
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : I was not hoping for that. It messes up the page lol
beast (6-Jan) : Thank you, and I was really opening we were going to get 4 or more tied for the top 3.
beast (6-Jan) : Thank you, and I was really opening we were going to get 4 or more tied for the top 3.
beast (6-Jan) : Thank you, and I was really opening we were going to get 4 or more tied for the top 3
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : congrats beast on 2024 !
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : congrats porky on winning 2023 pick'em! (oops sorry)
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : Packers have $60M+ of 2025 cap space on paper TODAY.
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Missed FG into a Lions TD; that'll do pig, that'll do
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : That might be it for the Vikings
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Oh so the refs do know what intentional grounding is
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : what the hell was that Goff?! Not much pressure and he just air mails it to Harrison
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : They really need to to get rid of the auto first down for illegal contact
Martha Careful (6-Jan) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Even when GB got pressure he was throwing darts; vs no pressure on that last pass he just air mails an open guy
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : didn't have guys in his face ... pressure makes difference
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Where was this Darnold vs GB?
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : BALL DON'T LIE
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : how was that not a safety? Goff throws it at an offensive lineman
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Zero, I thought that was a given! ;)
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Zero I looked through earlier and noticed the same thing. Bonkers year. I just wonder if beast put any money on games
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : I'm hoping for BLOODBATH. Pummel one another.
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : 8 people in pick'em would have won any year with their total lol
