The following is assuming the Packers will be going for comp picks once again next year like they are this year (or whenever said contract would run out)
I doubt Winston take it, but I'm at the point where I might say "screw it", offer him a lower offer with the pitch of
1) learning from Rodgers,
2) the idea that this same system has gotten the NFC teams to the Championship game the last two years.
3) That the Packers know how to deal with guys that throw a lot of TDs and INT and we recently put one in the NFL Hall Of Fame
4) Packers have a very talented team that got them to the NFC Championship Game
5) Sitting behind a future hall of famer can get you a big contract, see Teddy Bridgewater (and Saints already got their guy of the future, so).
Why? Because everything makes it sound like he's an extremely hard worker in the field but his vision had some questions marks and he recently had eye surgery.
Also because I'm guessing he could potentially fetch at least a 4th round comp pick (
or better), if he has a decent bounce back year.
