Sidenote: First off, it seems like the Packers ALWAYS get the last game, giving them less rest before potentially having their next game (though that just might be in my mind....

For this wildcard weekend, they're having all the AFC Playoffs games on Saturday and all the NFC playoffs games on Sunday,

If it just me, or is that extremely odd?
I'm so used to them doing one conference each day.

I'm not complaining, I kinda like it... but wish they do it the entire time, because then for the divisional rounds, they just switch back. I think it'd be more fair for AFC to have one day, and then NFC the next... as of right now, some NFC team is going to have to play Sunday, and the turn around and travel to play the 49ers on Saturday.... losing another day when the 49ers have already had an extra week to rest.

If the Packers routinely get the late game, or last game, it is probably because they are the team everyone in the World wants to see. And that time slot offers more viewership.

I kind of like the AFC one day, NFC another day. I can't recall a time it happened before. I do think this goes to my previous point though. It's about maximizing viewership.

I would suspect the AFC Championship game will be the early game and the NFC game to be the later game. Unless two clunker ass teams make it like Vikings vs Seahawks.

I noticed it too and wondered why the change. Since I tend to not follow the AFC very closely I like have one conference each day. That way I get to watch a game I care about on both Saturday and Sunday. In the great scheme of things I won't complain that the line up change is bad.

I'd like to hear
1) Why did the NFL set it up AFC and NFC having their own days?
2) Why didn't they also do in for the divisional rounds?

My random crazy thought is one of the stadiums had a concert or event they were trying to steer clear of and give more time between the event and game.

Again, I like it, I just wish they'd did it through out the playoffs, and since they switch home and away conferences of the Superbowl, make the Away conference play on Saturday and home on Sunday, until they can get it all on one day.

It’s a disadvantage to go last/the second day. Your opponent gets to focus on your game while at the same time you don’t have the opportunity to focus on them.

It’s like giving the other team an extra day in preparation.

Is going last the second day really a disadvantage? Because one would say the teams going last had the most time to prepare.

If you played on Saturday, won, and then played on Sunday, that extra day is also an advantage. It would suck to play last on Sunday, win, and then play first on Saturday.

I think I might have figured it out... (Making assumptions)

It was probably supposed to be the Seahawks/Eagles playing on Saturday, but they moved the 49ers/Seahawks to the late game on week 17...

And they didn't want them to play the late game, then have to travel for a Saturday game.

Just a pure assumptions... but it's strange. Though I still like doing it one conference at a time.

No, because BOTH teams had the extra day, so there is no advantage.

So....the winner of the the Seahens Packers game:

will have 1 less day to prepare than their opponent
will likely then have to travel to SF, wasting a day
further their opponent will have the opportunity to watch their opponent live together day after their game.
Plus, both the Packers and Seachickens will know going into their game which team they will have to play for the NFC title if they win.
