So, the Packers landed the 2nd seed in the playoffs. That is amazing to me. Mainly because after the 2018 season and having a new coaching staff, I wasn't expecting much more than 8-10 wins while being generous. And they ripped off 13 FUGLY wins. One of the gripes we fans have had for the Packers is they couldn't win the ugly games, they couldn't win if every thing didn't go their way and now we are upset they are barely winning. Fans ... fickle fuckers we are.

The NFC playoff slate ...

Wild Card
5 Seahawks at 4 Eagles
Eagles will find a way to win. Seahawks suck on the road (2-5) in the playoffs. However, they did go something like 7 - 1 on the road this year and floundered at home. If Eagles win, not a surprise to me. Seahawks win, I would be surprised, but not fall out of chair surprised.

6 Vikings at 3 Saints
Vikings and Saints will be interesting. I can see either team winning this one. I would hedge my bets the Saints win.

Divisional
3 Saints at 2 Packers
I don't think Saints play well outside of a dome. I am concerned with the Packers having the extra week of rest. They came out flat as crap out of the BYE vs 49ers. And reports were the Packers did no meaningful practice before the Lions game and also came out flat.

4 Eagles at 1 49ers
I can't predict this game without the homer coming out of me. Eagles find a way to win this game. 49ers are drained from reading their headlines.

I expect the Philly to beat a broken down Seakhawks team. Last week I would have gone the other way. Saints beat Minny.

Philly face 49ers and lose. Saints come to GB. Packers win.

Packers lose at San Francisco I mean Santa Clara.

The problem with being the #2 seed is needing to beat both NO and SF in back to back weeks. If the defense that played in Minny shows up they have a chance. I don't think they can play at that high of a level all the time. Because of this the offense would need to play at a similarly high level. They don;t have it in them to do so.

Still it's a better year than most of us expected in June or July.

I predicted the Packers to be 8-8 for all the obvious reasons.
I'm ecstatic that they ended up an ugly 13-3.
I just wish that I could feel better about their chances in the playoffs but after that shit show yesterday I'm just not feeling it.

It IS encouraging.
What this tells me is none of them won the SB. Oh well. Only one team a year wins it.

In 1999 Tennessee made it to the SB while 14-2 Jags and the 13-3 Colts didn't. Even with their record they were the #3 seed and beat both teams, on the road. They lost to another 13-3 team in the Rams team that was lead by Marshal Faulk and Kurt Warner.

In 2009 the Colts made it to the SB. They were the #1 seed and faced another 13-3 team in the Saints.

Would anyone be happy with the Packers simply being in the SB? Based on the preseason predictions almost everyone should. 2 out of 9 teams is a 22.2% chance.

Then 3 teams made it to the league championship game.
2001 Steelers lost to New England.
2011 was the 49ers. You remember THAT season don't you? GB was 15-1 and lost the #4 seed Giants who then beat SF and New England.
2012 Falcons lost to SF 28-24 after SF beat GB the week before 45-31.
Odds of making it to the NFCCG 55.6%

Less than half of the teams lost in the divisional round.
We already discussed the 1999 Colts losing to Tennessee.
In 2001 it was the bares so no one cares. They were embarrassed by Philly. But 4 NFC teams had 11 wins or more and the Eagles were 11-5.
In 2009 the Jets were the Cinderella team seeded #5 they beat both Cincy and SD.
2010 it was Atlanta's turn to lose to the red hot Packers who won it all. So that worked out pretty well.
