RickLM retorted (and Rick, thanks for your post. Welcome to PH)
Why is everyone (including the media) so high on the Vikings? Why is it probable that they win? Yeah, we got it handed to us against the Chargers and the Niners, but this Viking team hasn't beat a team with a winning record this season. They lost to the Bears and a Mahomes-less Chiefs. Beyond that, they squeaked by the Redskins and Cowboys and needed damn near a miracle to beat the Broncos. For all the talk about the Packers jumping out early and needing to win ugly, where's the talk about the Vikings digging a hole early and needing to play lights out to come back?
The plays are there to be made, and we're going to start making them. We win this.
A good question and one which merits a stab at an answer.
The reason many of us are negative about this game is the match-up. Many of us feel that Packers, particularly along the lines, lack the ability to keep up with the more physical fronts around the league (SF, LAC, Phil, Bears) and the Vikings have a physical front (not to mention the talent at receiver and TE)
We can't seem to run when we need to (nothing new there as this has been the case for 5 years) against teams like this and become one dimensional. For all the talk about Rodgers on the site, there is little critical analysis of the line play or the scheme and tactics used (or not used) in the run game.
Further, our ILB position does not seem robust enough to consistently stop the run.
Last year, I thought an orange cone would be a better coach than Mike McCarthy and clearly, it was addition by subtraction. Further, I think that for a first year guy MLF has been terrific. Notwithstanding the foregoing, our run schemes and tactics do not help our linemen in the run game, and I am a bit disappointed at the lack of creativity in this regard.
I hope that answers your question...keep posting more!!!
