5. A.J. Hawk, linebacker, Packers: He hasn't become a dominant presence, but he has started every game in three seasons for the Packers. Green Bay's shift to a 3-4 could cause Hawk to struggle initially, but in the end he could emerge as an even better player. Verdict (for now): Not a bust.

According to Mike Florio of the Sporting News.

What's funny is of the top 5 picks, #2 and #3 he grades as a bust, and #1, #4, and #5 (Hawk) are not. I remember Reggie Bush having a tremendous amount of hype and he just hasn't lived up to expectations at all. Vince Young, I would have passed on simply because he doesn't have the brains (and never will) to run a more complicated NFL Offense. I was glad we didn't get stuck with him.

#6 - Vernon Davis he listed as a bust.

So all in all, Hawk a pretty good pick? Would you have picked differently? I know I would have picked Hawk.

What's really interesting is he thinks the 3-4 he has a better chance of succeeding in.

Hawk is as solid as they come, Last year he struggled a bit, but I think it was injury more than anything, plus a position switch. He's easily the most over all talented linebacker we have, people got down on him because they needed a scape goat IMO.

I think once he gets used to the 3-4 he's gonna be a beast, Sanders didn't let him do much, The only time I remember seeing him Blitz more than once was against Detroit and he ended up with two sacks that day. He's versatile and he needs to be used correctly.

If anyone can find a way to use him, It'd probably be Capers.

Last year conditioning and coaching was weak everywhere. Let's see this if we can get a healthy well-coached Hawk this season. He has got the talent... duh!

I'll again disagree

He lead the team in Tackles his rookie year, last year was the first time he didn't break the 100 tackle mark. Not to mention He's assignment sure (almost to a fault, sometimes it seems he trys to follow his brain instead of his instincts).

Pedestrian IMO is more along the lines of Nail Diggs and Hannibal Navies.

And his level of play isn't very comparable to Hawks, Which is the point i'm trying to make.

Has Hawk become the absolute dominant force he was expected? No

Is he a solid player who does everything he can to help the team? Yes

Pedistrian means someone who comes in a makes a few starts for ya, maybe a fill in for a year, Solid is a type that starts every game and plays in whatever situation you need of them.

In conclusion it's my own opinion that Hawk is a solid NFL linebacker who has all the intangibles to make the leap to being a a GREAT linebacker.

I am not comparing him to Navies but he is a slightly above average LB, not the superstar he was deemed to be. I love AJ more than anyone but he needs to raise his game. I hope this is the year
