Is he hurt? My impression was that he started the year off doing very well, but the last 3-4 games has been noticeably subpar. That's not the only reason we got stomped in SF, but it was a significant contributor.

I have never seen anything about him on the official injury list. then again I don't study it like others do.

I doubt he is injured if it hasn't been reported.

Olds70 Supreme asked: An excellent question. He was terrific the first month of the season. I would have guessed he just didn't like cold weather, but when kicking in LA and SF, he was not good.

When you eliminate other possibilities, you have to ask yourself why? And injury is the most plausible answer.

He talked about this last year... you got to punt a lot more often in the NFL than he did at Alabama in college and he's wearing down as the season goes on. Happened last year too.

First half of the season he's great, second half, he struggles.... I don't quite understand why he's not able to recover between games, but he's not. I'd hire a punter or two to the coaching/workout (as non-players) staff so they didn't need Scott to punt anymore than he wanted to, so he could recover and practice punt returns with someone else.

It was really noticeable in the 49er game. The Pack D would get a stop on the 49ers in their territory, and they would boom a punt and flip the field. The Packers would get stopped, and Scott's punt would go 35 yards and set the 49ers up w/ a short field. Having a terrible return game is bad enough, but Scott's punts probably have a bigger impact on most games than they get attention for.

A 35 yard punt wouldn’t be so bad if your offense could at least get out near midfield before the punter has to kick.
Part of the lousy field position goes on our offense.
