CB Tremon Smith promoted to 53.

Darrius Shepherd and Evan Baylis where released.

I'm thinking 2nd spot is for TE Jace Sternberger OR S Ibraheim Campbell

I hate celebrating someone losing their job, even when I advocated for it. But I am very happy shepherd is finally gone.
BAD EMAIL because the address couldn ot be found, or is unable to receive mail.

I feel the same way. Sorry for Shepard, but glad for the Packers.

Someone, I can't recall who - perhaps multiple people - were rather upset that Shepard was kept on the initial 53 but Lazard wasn't. I thought it was a bit silly at the time to have strong opinions about who was the 7th WR to fill out the bottom of the roster. But Lazard looks like a keeper and Shepard played his way off the team. So good on whoever it was who questioned that decision.

How does the years of service calculation work both for practice squad and NFL pension.

For Lazard, they did not see enough to put him back on the practice squad. I feel bad for the kid, but that is life in the NFL, and elsewhere.

For Baylis, he isn't going to play much after Sternberger returns.

Re NFL pension:
I am curious as to how many years (or it number years) does he have to play to qualify for NFL pension. The kid played with the Texans in 17, and I think he was on our PS last year. If so, does that give him 3 years, or what? Is it portion of years, or does he have to play the entire year.

NFL
The NFL could stand for "Not For Long," with the average career lasting only three years - just enough to qualify for the league's pension plan. The league's plan is based on years of service in the league. A player with the minimum three years of play would receive an annual pension check of $21,360 at retirement. On average, retired players receive an annual pension check of about $43,000.

Players who retired in the '80s and '90s receive anywhere from $3,000-5,640 per month for every season played in the NFL. Newly retired players (since 1998) receive $5,640 monthly for every year of service. Players with 10 years of service receive an additional retirement bonus in the form of an annuity.

Players are eligible to receive their full benefits at the age of 55. While the pension plan is much worse than other sports, the NFL does offer a generous 401(k) plan. The league matches every player's contribution up to 200%.

I think they went with Shepherd because of the lack of depth at slot and return man, plus his quickness and route running skill sure didn't hurt, but I think the lack of depth and maybe they knew they might be trading Davis factored into it. Plus they had a couple of large WRs and more guys can play on coverage units, than return man.

dfosterf (26-Jun) : I think it would be great to have someone like Tom Grossi or Andy Herman on the Board of Directors so he/they could inform us
dfosterf (26-Jun) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.
wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : I thought it used to be we voted for the whatever they called the 45, and then they voted for the seven, and then they voted for Mark Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”

Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : Well he can always ask his brother for pointers
Zero2Cool (10-Jun) : Bo Melton taking some reps at CB as well as WR
Zero2Cool (10-Jun) : key transactions coming today at 3pm that will consume more cap in 2025
