Just saw on TV that Walgreens is having the “no guns” signs in their stores.
Stores doing this.....what sense does that make? Seriously. It’s another useless “feel good” thing.
If a person is willing to do what the sign says, then they are NOT the one you need to worry about. Just like the “stricter gun control laws”, the ONLY people that obey those laws are law abiding citizens.
Do they really believe that a scumbag criminal that is intent on killing people in a store will see a “no guns allowed” sign outside a store and say “oh my, I better not take my gun inside”.???
If they really believe that, they need a “reality check”.
I’d rather know that there might be a concealed carry person in the store that may be able to stop the scumbag from carrying out his evil plan. If you have to wait for the police to arrive, it’s already too late.
Common sense is dead.

IIRC this applies to open carry only.

I agree that it's more of a "feel good" thing. More specifically, it makes it look like the brand actually cares about gun violence, without heavily alienating those customers of theirs that would be offended at an outright ban. In many states where open or concealed carry is legal (WI for example), establishments can forbid open or concealed carry by putting up a sign. They're not even going that far.

I am not sure what this will accomplish. I am guessing they are saying no open carry to make the customers feel less threatened?? Which I suppose makes sense because if you don't know how to use a gun, you will naturally feel unsafe with someone carrying one around especially with how much news these shootings get. I think part of it also if you see someone with a gun (and they have a no gun policy) you can immediately take action, whatever that may be.

When I walk into a building, I don't really check if I'm allowed to carry a gun or not. If I see someone with a gun, I tend to keep that at the forefront of my head as I carry on with what I'm doing.

Some good points, guys.
I believe that it means concealed carry as well.
As I stated, a sign won’t stop or even slow down a sicko from killing.
The Walmart killer came into the store with a assault weapon. Had there been law abiding citizens with concealed weapons, maybe they could have stopped him before he was able to carry out his murder plan.
So a “no guns” sign actually tells a killer “come on in! There’s no one here that can stop you!”
I have signs outside my home letting anyone with bad intentions that I have weapons to defend myself and my wife. A home down from mine was broken into and robbed. I wouldn’t doubt that if they see my signs, they will go past my place instead of taking a chance.
Please don’t misunderstand me. I would hate to have to shoot someone. But if it’s a threat to me or my loved ones, I will do whatever is necessary to protect what’s mine.
I only had to show a gun once, and just seeing it made the bad guys take off. I pray I never have to shoot.

I am CC in FL which has reciprocity with many states. The net is as one of the posters (I think it was Porforis) noted, Walmart does not want to OPEN carry.

If someone is going through appropriate accreditation, and has a concealed carry, I would bet they would actually prefer you to carry in the store although they can’t say that.

I carry a church and in every place I am legally allowed to do so. I do not solicit stores that do not allow me to carry.

I also have an AR 15 and will not give it up.

“Aaron Rodgers 15”!!! 😂
I know, if you write A. R. That’s what shows up in your post:
The first thing Adolph Hitler did was to take all guns away from his people. They can’t fight a tyrant if they are unarmed.
Our fore fathers fought for us to have rights. I want to keep my rights.
Too many people are easily manipulated to give up their rights.
We need to get serious about bad people, and keep them locked up when they commit serious crimes. Too many times they are let out on good behavior. Then go out and commit worse crimes. It’s time to make the punishment fit the crime. It’s seems criminals have more rights today then their victims have.
And when a family warns the police that one of their members is mentally ill and causes a threat, to get them off the street immediately. How many of these mass killers had mental problems that no one did enough about to stop them BEFORE they did something really awful?

Chessey chimed:

“Aaron Rodgers 15”!!! LOL

Actually I did not check my work after posting...and don't know how to fix it. Oh well.

Also, for those of you who wonder why the El Paso shooter news has faded into the background, it would appear facts don't match the gun control agenda/paradigm:
• the suspect failed a background check
the gun used was illegally manufactured
therefore a background check would not have done the trick; and,
Red Flag laws would not have mattered as the gun would not have been registered.
Except in action movies and the provincial imagination of Dana Loesch types, if any of you try to shoot a shooter in public, the body count will only INCREASE.

Sometimes TV imitates life: Andy never carried a gun; but Barney Fife sure did and made everyone aware of it, too.

And have some empathy: drug store personnel get robbed weekly. These poor employees are truly stressed; when someone walks in they often think, “is this the one?” Don’t be a dick and open carry in a Walgreens. Even if not afraid of you, the last thing they want is some pasty old dotard to have his gun taken away and used to rob the store.

The robberbarons are scheming to take your guns while telling you, “we’ll never let anyone take your guns.”

THERE's NO RIGHT TO OWN A GUN

Fact is the right of gun ownership was no more authorized by Heller than racial discrimination by Dred Scot or Japanese-American Internment by Korematsu; corruption influenced all 3 SCOTUS decisions. Heller is lawless and not sustainable as demonstrated by KRK right here on Packershome a few months back. KRK was asked to provide constitutional support for gun rights and couldn’t. He could only cite Heller and reference the Federalist Papers without any citation to them. The founding robberbaron fathers possessed contempt for democracy and freedom of the peasants; hell, they fought desperately to prevent anyone not Rich, White and Male to even vote. Jefferson said the House being selected directly by the people was “evil;” but supported it to make the rabble think they had some control. So, what kinda nut thinks these jerkoffs wanted the peasants to have guns? PLEASE STOP! Jefferson and Madison’s support of Amendment #2 was to PREVENT a standing army that might do to them what they did to England. A fractured army would make a nationwide military coup difficult to impossible; while at the same time ensuring they’d have “well regulated” armed state militias at their disposal to stop England’s reinvasion and to conquer lands to the west and north [Factoid: only England prevented the US’s invasion of Canada, which was not recognized until 1815].

The Koch Bros have been laughing their asses off; I bet Chucky croaked from laughing, laughing at the peasants defending his policies that one day will be used to enslave those very same peasants.

    A SOLUTION TO GUN VIOLENCE

FACT: Most bad people get their guns from every day “lawful” gunowners, who failed to be responsible with their guns! Today’s “conservatives” [in name only] rail against socialism and handouts; but they want society to subsidize the cost of their irresponsible gun-habits. The duplicity and finger-pointing are two hallmark traits of the American-born anti-Americans working to turn my great nation back to a “shit hole” [to borrow a Trump phrase]. Make gunowners responsible for what they do with their guns and these mass killings decrease bigtime. Bad guys get their guns when supposed lawful gun owners: have them taken straight from their hips; get them otherwise stolen or lost; transferred, sold or loaned to irresponsible persons; etc.

Responsible airline customers are screened because a few past passengers did bad things; that’s the way society works. It should be no different for gunowners, who must pay the price for past careless, stupid and/or evil acts perpetrated by other fellow gunowners.

Let’s brainstorm for a Market solution [mandatory Insurance] and criminal penalties for a start!

A perfect driver pays for those that are not, because everyone that drives increases the odds they will do harm to others in a society. Likewise, anyone with a gun should pay a sizable insurance premium; because their hobby is more likely to cause harm to others. If a gunowner “loses” a gun thru theft, carelessness or by transferring it to a jerk, all other guns possessed by this clown get confiscated and he/she can have no more guns, ever. Moreover, any other gunowner in the clown’s household has their premium jump $5K per year and [my favorite] the clown’s immediate family members living elsewhere have their premiums jump $1K per year. If a gun you owned in the past is used in a crime you get tagged with a felony thru a summary arbitration process [Need to work out 6th Amendment issues]. If a gun you previously owned causes a death, you do a mandatory year, 10 years if over 10 are killed. Yes, you’ll learn to be responsible with those gums and when you’re done having orgasms on your guns, you best take a sledge to them. Even if you turn them over to police and they’re later used to harm; you must pay the aforementioned cost for the harm you caused and/or contributed to.
