Defending another from attack in their absence is both noble and upstanding. While taking advantage of another behind their back is both cowardly and a sign of low character.

I have and will always challenge the schoolyard bully. Even the senior ones that use the safety and protection of the internet to spit their venom from. They are the same ones that had no home or religious training growing up and became the same undisciplined adults their elders were.

I challenge and stand up against those that can't see that their "jokes" are not at all funny, but demonstrative of a person that gains personal pleasure at the expense of others. Furthermore, while others may stand with the bully, I know that there are many that stand behind me but choose to remain silent and not become a target themselves.

Hiss and snarl if you want, but if escalating a slap on the wrist into a larger debate is what is needed to show others that you are tough, then so be it. It is always easier to defend a position from the high ground.
