On Feb. 3rd Super Bowl LIII will take place in Atlanta, Ga.. The LA Rams will play the NE Patriots. Atlanta's doomed stadium will ensure good weather conditions and artificial turf will offer consistent field conditions. However none can ensure good and consistent officiating.

If the gov't shutdown is still occuring, airport travelers coming and leaving Atlanta for the event may just experience a lot of inconvenient delays. Additionally, the security for this World Event may suffer due to lack of funding.

This game is often watched at bars and private parties. Please don't drink and drive, designate a sober driver or call a cab/uber instead. Lets all have a good , but safe Super Bowl. 👍

The stadium is doomed? Are they demolishing it after the game or something? 😨

The dome and the rest of the stadium will, I'm almost sure, be just fine. Funding for security may become a critical issue though. Maybe NE will get struck with the Flu virus, sometimes prayers do get answered. 😎

I was just laughing as I typed that. I couldn't help but think that the demolition of Mercedes-Benz Stadium would make for a much better halftime show than Maroon 5.

Incidentally, is there any other company besides Mercedes-Benz that has naming rights to more than one NFL stadium?

The SB Halftime Show has held little interest for me in some time. It has become a time for me to go to the bathroom, get a cold drink, and even wash up a few dishes in the kitchen. I'm usually settled back in as the second half begins.

I was thinking that the NFL itself may just need to finance much of the security this year. They can afford it I'm sure. The Commissioner can't allow this big of a world event to be disrupted by some jerk/jerks with some radical cause.

The coin toss usually performed by some beloved and generally older celebrity that all can agree deserves the honor. I wonder who will toss the coin this year? Does the coin always go to the Hall of Fame?

As far as the game itself is concerned, I'd like to read what this forum's bold and brave have to offer as to their predictions on how the game will unfold. I'll post my prediction for how I believe the game could unfold in a few days.

[cheers]

The NFC and the AFC alternate as home SB team. This year the NFC has the honor, so the Rams will be the home team. They have the choice of uniform colors and will wear blue jerseys and helmets trimmed in yellow with yellow pants trimmed in yellow/white. NE will wear their light colors and as the away team and will get to choose heads/tails on the coin toss.

It occured to me that the Ram's Defensive Coordinator is Wade Phillips who may be the best DC in the NFL. He will not be intimidated by Belichick or Brady. In addition, he has Donald and Suh heading his D-line and they could spearhead the effort to get pressure on Brady.

Defense does win Championships and the Rams Defense could hold the key to a LA SB win. The 2 week rest between games will aid both teams, but NE has been fighting bad weather while LA has enjoyed perfect warm weather. LA could be a better rested team by the time they both arrive in Atlanta. Also, Atlanta is an NFC city and the AFC Patriots may not be so welcome in the Old South.

Additionally, Atlanta's airport may not be as efficient as both teams would like it to be, even though both teams will have their own airplanes.

I am really looking forward to the line play...to see if the Rams can maintain a run game and to see if Donnell and Suh can reek some havoc on Brady et al.

As for SB LIII, I believe that the Rams defense has the players and the coach (Wade Phillips) that can play well against the Patriots offense. Donald and Suh are two of the best O-line players in the league. Donald will most likely be double teamed and that could help to put the real pressure on Brady that will need to occur for the Rams to win.

The Patriots defense, while stout, will find the Rams offense too much for them to handle. Better play from a healthier Todd Gurley should be the defining edge for LA. Don't discount Goff either, I believe he will have a good game.

All that said, I've also seen unexpected big plays that became game changers, Luck, preparation, even a missed assignment can make the difference in a SB game.

LA Rams ----------- 27

NE Patriots --------- 24
