http://first-pick.com  to do the draft or is there another website?

That's the one I am using.
I do it just to familiarize myself with the players who are eligible.
The list will change as more underclassmen commit before the draft.
The Packers position will change after this weeks game, or not, depending on results.

I thought it would be a fun thing to get started.

Obviously some are taking this way to serious at this point.

Again, the average fan os not going to know about all these players. Good to see who pops up every round.

Just a game.

Use it to learn players.

I thought the purpose of the thread was to predict or opine on what the draft needs were going to be and who we should draft. In formulating those prognostications we need to assume certain re-signings (or lack thereof) of the current team. That is all I’m saying.

I had conditioned my draft preferences based upon re-signing the bulk of our defensive line.

So if we want to change the thread to off-season needs, great. Further if we assume that no FAs are re-signed of the current roster, I would totally agree with your priorities.

Our lines are the biggest priority.

Though personally I feel as FA/draft/off-season needs are one in the same until the moves actually happen... (I don't like counting my chicken before they hatch type of thing).

And the general consensus has seemed to be this draft is full of defense front talent and weaker on OL talent and I always like going after a drafts strengths... which is one weakness I thought Thompson had, he was drafting need (such as Randall/Rollins) even when it was said to be a weak point of the draft. Where last year's strength was CB and we got Alexander and Jackson... though jury still out on Jackson, but he came into the NFL EXTRMEMELY raw, and needing a ton of man coverage training and like a lot of draft picks will take 3 years to see if he's developed or not.

But yes my off-season needs are the defensive front first, probably OL second as Bulaga is going into a contract year, gets injured a lot and top backup Spriggs has probably been injured more often per snap taken and the OGs need to be upgraded, if no one steps up... and some to take over the future of FS, as Williams is not the long term answer.... also a #2 WR, we all hope it's the young WRs, but sometimes they take 3+ years to develop (took Nelson about 3.5 years to develop, and Adams had a horrible 2nd year too (largely due to a bad ankle sprain that he kept playing on, when coaches should have forced him to sit and heal IMO.)

Beast raises another excellent/discussion point re draft

which is one weakness I thought Thompson had, he was drafting need

The question is, when do you draft for need...if ever? I am suggesting the answer is....if you are not active in FA, then we almost have to draft for need.

Part of the issue of the Ted Thompson era is that we did not regularly utilize the FA market to fill holes. This philosophy forces us to draft for need, which somewhat compromises draft effectiveness.

I am not very big on the whole "this is a good year for XXX position" There are excellent players at every position every year. There are not always excellent or every very good FA's at every position every year, and teams have to overspend for he good ones.

With an aging A Rodgers, we need to hit the lines hard in FA (including our own guys), otherwise, we are going to have to draft for need...which is:
1a. DL (including edge rush)(only number 1 if we don't sign any of our guys, thought edge is a need)
1.a. OL (if we don't sign a Massey or a Safford)
3. ILB (why did Burks only get 3 snaps last game...very troubling)
4. S (unless you think Jackson is more of a safety)
