Just heard on the radio there's talk about adding a game or two to the regular season. What's this do for the NFL and players? Heck, and stats?

Also, something about a development league? Umm, didn't we try that already and it fizzled out? NFL Europa?

What have you all heard or think about this? Good, bad?

I'm all for this. They've been talking about this since before the owner meeting and from what I've heared, they're going to take away the game(s) from the Pre-season and add them to the regular season.

It would be a shame to see records like Dan Marino's passing yards in a season, or Favre's career records being broken in alot less years, but the benifits outweigh the sacrifices, both for teams (revenues) and fans.

I asume that this has something to do with the upcoming leagues aswell. They don't want any players slipping through their fingers and turning out to be players like Steve Young.

If it'll work, I'm sceptic. Maybe if they make it a summer league or so. It does have a more stable platform if they do locate it in North America instead of Europe, where the European Champions Amsterdam Admirals couldn't fill up half the Amsterdam ArenA.

I'm all for it.

2 pre-season and 18 regular season games.

They should also up the play off teams to 4 division winners and 3 wild cards.

Only the best divisional winner in each conference gets a bye week and homefield advantage.

It would definately mean more games played overseas with even more of a chance for me to see the Pack in the UK.

I couldn't see fans complaining about losing a home game if they did this as teams would still be guaranted 8 home games even if they did play the 9th abroad.

I like the idea of the development league. Kind of like the NBA D-League.

It'd be fun to watch in the offseason.

Also, I'm all for adding at least 1 more game to the regular season.

I made a post about another league starting but it has nothing to do with the NFL. Its a 4 team league this year that will play on Thursday and Sunday nights if i remember correctly. I posted a story in this section of the forum awhile back.
As far as adding more games i hate it, sure makes the owners and the nfl more money but the way they are making rules now records won't mean anything. Also just think of the money the players will want if they have to play 18 games instead of 16. I think for the playoffs they shouldn't have it as division winners but you rank the teams by their record plain and simple. I don't understand an 8-8 team playing a 12-4 team and getting it at home.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be šŸ™‚ (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I would love to see a developmental league too, just not in spring or summer. Have it the same time as the NFL only in smaller cities that the NFL is not in and then on Friday nights.

Imagine the conversation.

So what are you doing this weekend?

Well, since I dumped the ol' bag, I am going to Madison to watch the UW Badgers on Saturday and the on Sunday head to GB to watch the Packers.

Cool! what are you doing Friday night?

Ah, probably run up to Minneapolis to catch the developmental league team, the Minnesota Vikings. I guess they used to be in the NFL but could never find a legitimate QB so they were demoted as a team.....

I know you meant that jokingly, but that would be something. Promovation and degradation in the NFL. Doube play-offs. One for the SB, the other one a battle of the cupcake teams trying to stay or get into the NFL-1.

That would create alot of controversy, especially in a league with as much parity as this one. šŸ˜›
