Mike McCarthy isn't given the credit he deserves for taking the high-road with Aaron Rodgers and his jabs. Aaron is one of those people who is extremely smart and his insecurity makes him feel he has to remind others he's the smartest person in this room, that room and every other room.

Aaron needs to respect his HC, even if he's smarter than the coach.

Holmgren had a rule with his star QBs: We don't embarrass each other. And that could be good advice for Aaron Rodgers in working with Mike McCarthy.

"It’s a different time now with social media and the stuff that gets out that previously would have been behind closed doors, it’s out there now," Holmgren said. "But still, my approach to those types of things was, first of all, I’d want to find out if in fact that’s what was said. Then if it was said, let’s talk about this. I had a rule -- I didn’t have a lot of rules -- and one of them was we’re going to operate from a mutual respect. I won’t embarrass you, and I don’t expect you to be embarrass me.

"When I read stuff like that, first of all I don’t know exactly what to believe. But secondly, it’s sad to me a little bit. I certainly did not want to hear that, no one does. I know both of those guys. I know Aaron a little bit, and I know Mike pretty well. I have tremendous respect for those guys. If in fact he was critical, then I would say, ‘Don’t do that. You don’t have to do that. You’re too good to do that.’"

I haven't heard Aaron "disrespect" McCarthy. But just as it was obvious that Dom Capers wasn't the answer, the same could the case with McCarthy, at least to Aaron Rodgers. If that's how Aaron Rodgers or others on the team feel, then I don't blame them for getting impatient. Complacency is hard to deal with. That's why I could never work in the public sector.

I'm concerned that McCarthy's message has become completely stale. I don't think he's lost the team, but I'm also uncertain his message is working. For better or worse, if I have to choose, I'm choosing Aaron Rodgers over Mike McCarthy every day of the week. I can't imagine multiple other head coaches couldn't produce at least similar results to Mike McCarthy the past multiple seasons.

Holmgren left too soon then failed twice tarnishing his reputation. Not sure his guide is credible

It sure doesn’t seem like the coach and QB are getting along.
I still don’t understand why Aaron Rodgers isn’t given the chance to call plays on his own. He’s been in the league long enough to do so in my view.
