I live in Bismarck and we have a mess on the south side of town. I spent the day filling sand bags to help out with what I can. There are huge ice jams south of town on the Missouri and the water is back flowing into the city.

There are already a few small towns flooded by the smaller rivers flowing through them and the waters from those rivers are adding to the problem. Fargo and Grand Forks are in greater danger so we do fill fortunate here in Bismarck. We are a stubborn hard working culture up here and we will battle the floods and rebuild what we lose, but maybe you guys could throw a few prayers our way just the same.

Mensen in laaggelegen gebieden zijn gevacueerd. Ook 146 gevangenen in de hoofdstad Bismarck van North Dakota moesten naar een andere gevangenis worden gebracht.

'People in lower areas have been evacuated. Also, 146 prisoners in the capital of North Dakota, Bismarck, had to be transfered to a different prison.'

So that means that half your town is flooded aswell by now? Or are these just pre-emptive things? Anyway, my thoughts go out to you (and your family).

I heard they were stacking sandbags 46 feet high in some places. That has to be an absolutely brutal endeavor. Stay safe Dakota!

The water is creeping in slowly, people are being evacuated because it is not safe to drive on the streets. The blasting of the ice has been effective as the waters have dropped 4 feet. The problem is the tributaries carrying above normal waters into the Missouri.

East Grand Forks resident here, and I can say that things are a bit scary right now. Two of the three bridges connecting us to Grand Forks have been closed. Right now, the water is estimated to crest on Sunday or Monday at 52 feet, and then very slowly back down.

Personally, I'm a bit freaked out. There's a floodwall that's only a few blocks from my home, and it's my nightmare that it'll burst and we'll all have to evacuate the neighborhood.

Fargo is in very bad shape. Right now, they have a massive call for volunteers to sandbag.

It's been a miserable spring for the area. It's now snowing here, and snowed nearly all day yesterday, and a bunch of snow got dumped on the area.

Best of luck to you and all North Dakotans. My wife is from Dickinson. I hope all that snow melts slowly. We had two big snow storms come through Western Montana in the past 3 days and just maybe they will lose steam before they hit you. Around us these storms added up to 40 inches of new snow.
