Matthews had that high of a grade?!

Matthews was completely awful. He can't get to the QB, is too slow to react to change of direction, and he doesn't know how to tackle. He dives to tackle now and tries to swing them down, but instead slips off and takes out the next pursuing defender with him. I watched this happen at least 4 times during the game. I was legitimately worried he was going to hurt one of our own guys because he kept taking them out at the knees.

The Rodgers grade is clearly way way off. That notwithstanding, the other grades are pretty darn good, albeit that I/we don't know specific assignments on individual plays.
- Bahktiari was just terrific.
- Kings is probably low.
- Clinton-Dix's grade was too high (he had one big...very big tackle, but I did not notice him the rest of the night)
Clay has had too many years of bad habits relying on his speed and quickness vs technique. He does not set and edge nor keep leverage when he does. Having said that, I actually think the guy is trying to do too much, instead of doing his job. I think it bothers him that he is paid so much with out producing to that level. I think a sober, film session with LB coaches and Pettine will yield much better results...at least I hope so.

If Matthews is trying to do too much, he isn’t succeeding. KRK is right.
Now, I don’t know if he feels bad that he’s paid so much and does so little or not. I think his ego is too big to admit that anyway. Fact is, his best days are years behind him. He is AJ Hawk right now. A very average player. Add to that his bone head QB late hit that almost cost us the game.
As MM said, “we have to play smarter then that”.
I hope he was a little meaner to CM3 when he talked to him about that play.
It seems to be that way. Matthews is a half second behind on every play.
