Are you having high hopes for Josh Jackson this season?

Josh Jackson intercepted two passes in the preseason, taking them both back for touchdowns. Yes, one was erased by a penalty, but we’ll overlook that in favor of Jackson’s exceptional play. Not only that, but he allowed a perfect 0.0 passer rating into his coverage, according to Pro Football Focus, with just two receptions for 14 yards on nine targets.

Maybe Tramon could end up at safety along with Haha Clinton-Dix, I think he played a bit of safety with the Browns.

That would seem to be a good way to get the 5 best DBs on the field. Assuming the rookies continue to play well when the real games start.

He's a rookie. He is going to make rookie mistakes. There will be film on him and his techniques. (IIRC he is a bit aggressive. That means he is vulnerable to double moves.) The opposition will make an effort to exploit his weakness. I will be more excited after he grows a little.

Peter King  thinks he may win DROY. That's pretty exciting.

Defensive rookie: Josh Jackson, CB, Green Bay. I don’t think he’ll start on fire, but as the season wears on, he’s going to be the most reliable cornerback on a strong playoff contender. He never was the fastest cornerback at Iowa, but he was smart and instinctive, and he’ll be among the league leaders in interceptions.

Packers Wire  has a little more about JJ including PFF's look at him:

It hasn’t taken long – just one standout preseason, in fact – for Green Bay Packers rookie cornerback Josh Jackson to start grabbing attention nationally.

On Monday, Peter King of NBC Sports went out on a limb and predicted Jackson will win the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2018.

DE can stay in if they are pass rushers but not those who merely stop the run. DT are probably going to be out for sure. If nothing else these guys will be in a heavy rotation and not see the field more than 1/2 the time. That's bad for stats. No one beyond the 2nd round. No rookie Qbs. (I am talking about both the offense and defense players of the year. But let's shift strictly to the defensive side.)

At a quick glance there are about 25 players left in the pool. How many will start or play a significant amount of time from week 1 on? Not too many. I don't know who will from every team but let's just guess only 10. King probably can't watch the preseason film on every player in all 4 games. (But then maybe he can.) Knowing GB is in dire need of help in the secondary, King figures Josh will play a lot. He sees a few highlights where Josh looks pretty good and doesn't see a lot from the other prospective rookies so he gives the nod to Josh. What does he have to lose by doing so? Nothing it's a preseason guesstimate.

Nah, I have no damn clue. I wouldn't be surprised if Marcus Davenport wins it.

From what I saw in the pre-season I have a very good feeling about Jackson. He will make some mistakes, but he really looks like a guy who is confident in his abilities and the stage is not too big for him. What I am concerned with going into this year is Kevin King. He flashed, but can this guy stay healthy or will he be another Packer player who we always need to make excuses/justifications for his stats because of injuries.
