I think it's kind of narrow thinking to say McCarthy lucked out into having Rodgers when he's one of the reasons Rodgers developed into the QB he is now. Go find film on Rodgers in his first preseason and compare it to 2008. His throwing motion, his footwork, his decision making, it's all black and white and almost unrecognizable.
McCarthy is a really good coach, when he doesn't get in his own way (e.g. 2014 NFC Championship).
Haven't the Patriots picked about the same for the past 17 years?

The biggest difference though, Bellichick is a defensive genius (my opinion) who will take away the one thing (be it player or what not) and force you to win another way.
I also admire his approach to the first four games of the season. He uses those games as a gauge of what worked and what didn't work and uses that to fine tune the season through the remaining games.
