Barely heard about him because he has played for a decade with the Jags, who have been horrible for most of the time he has been there... also because he hasn't put up much yardage... last time he's gotten to 400 yards was 2012.

Some will argue, he doesn't put up yardage because the Jags OL has sucked so much that he has had to help them out so often (which has some truth to it), but he's also had his problems with catching the ball... and it just seems the Jags haven't thrown the ball towards their TE much... it's always the back-up options.

Lewis has made his living blocking, and fake blocking before going out on a route... and guys forgetting about him, then he gets a favorable match-up and he's open. Rodgers will certainly know when to look at him as a favorable match-up quicker now.

Also did TE just go from a weakness to a strength? And Graham/Kendricks might be able to help out at WR sometimes... if WR needs help.

Assuming the pricetag comes in quite nice this is a great signing. My only negative is what becomes of the young TE prospects. I was hoping Byrd could make the jump this year and be a non-PS guy. Our TEs are quite old at the moment. Hope we can keep at least one young TE on the roster to develop and gain real game experience.

I thought Clark showed better at WR the end of last season than Davis did.

Though that also seems like a league wide thing, more TEs seem to be struggling to develop for what ever reason, some have suggested it has to do partly with spread offenses, and not using TEs as much or in the same way.

Good signing, maybe the position with the least depth got 2 seasoned vets this offseason. As others have said the internal development strategy hasn't worked so might as well try something else.

I assume this means that someone is getting dropped from the 90-man roster, since the addition of Lewis

Since he's on the reserve/retired list, I don't think he counts as being on the 90 man roster no more.
