Who needs receivers? The Green Bay Packers! It now appears that a receiver they had been connected to via trade is indeed available. The Pittsburgh Steelers' Martavis Bryant is there for the taking if they want him.

We should make a serious offer to Martavis and/or Dez. I love Davante, but we don’t protect him. I would hate to see him miss significant time, but if he did, Ty Montgomery would be our #1.

I like Ty, but he’s not getting reps on the perimeter anymore. Dude is preparing his body and mind as a RB. A rookie would take two years to get ready.

If we were to take a chance trading for a guy with a problem staying clean I would go Josh Gordon as that guy is flat out awesome when on the field.

Yeah, I've never liked trading away draft picks, just for the right to give a guy a raise.... it's like being forced to pay twice, especially when you could just wait a year and pay once.

I loved the guy before his suspension, haven't seen him play since. I'd take him if he is the same player.

I am curious how this works with Jordy Nelson.

They have Amari Cooper too. They can have Cooper and Bryant run deep and intermediate routes and have Nelson catch passes from the slot. Jared Cook is there too.

Carr has quite the arsenal.

Now they secured a potentially very good WR without having to further compete with any team. As long as they expect to resign him, it could work out. Worse case scenario, they could tag him for a year.

I'm not saying I agree with this particular move, but there are obviously some benefits, especially if a team has a critical need and is ready to win now. Let's say if the Packers made this trade, and Bryant was a key cog in helping the Packers win another Super Bowl, it would have been well worth it, even if he departed the following year. A team could also get a decent compensatory pick in that scenario anyway, further minimizing the damage.
